Job Description


The Business Development Manager reports to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sparton DLS BD, Marketing and Strategy. Primary responsibilities include capturing new business and pursuing growth in the sonobuoy and undersea warfare lines of business as well as sales opportunities through collaboration with Elbit Systems of America’s Marketing and Business Development team. This position encompasses capture and proposal development, customer engagements, and collaboration for new business. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will support the BD SVP in the preparation of BD related briefs, strategic plans, and presentations to senior leaders.


Job Responsibilities


  • Support SVP of BD in development of related briefings
  • Support SVP of BD with development of strategic plans
  • Attend appropriate trade shows and conferences to facilitate customer engagement focused on strategic objectives
  • Coordinate Gate Reviews and Color Teams as required
  • Serve as Capture Manager and Proposal Manager (when required) for key pursuits
  • Update the BD pipeline and provide monthly/quarterly submissions and briefings
  • Provide input into the annual budgeting process
  • Collaborate with other business units to identify and qualify pursuits that leverage multiple business units core capabilities
  • Conduct market research for new areas for potential opportunities
  • Meet bookings goals
  • Maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to track opportunities and customer relations
  • Pursue new business opportunities in support of annual and long-term growth targets
  • Other duties as assigned to assist with strategy, business development, communications and marketing objectives
  • Coordinate technical and other support required for NavEx pursuits
  • Manage and track NavEx opportunities to preserve market share and create growth


Required Education And Experience


  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a combination of Aerospace and Defense, and Business Development.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Finance, Business or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.


Required Qualifications


  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Teams.
  • The ability and desire to travel to meet customers, attend conferences and research new markets as needed.
  • Knowledge of Business Development Life Cycle Processes.
  • Top-notch analytical skills -- including an eye for detail!
  • Great collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex projects and multi-task.
  • Strong communication skills and IT fluency.
