The Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC) is a nonprofit global advocate for compassion education. CMSC was originally founded in 2012 by the developers of MSC, Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff, and is now an international nonprofit organization.

Overall Job Purpose

The CMSC Finance HR Support Specialist role for a non-profit organization is a crucial position responsible for managing the financial records of the organization.

Requirements/Role

The Finance HR Support Specialist role is critical to the financial health and stability of CMSC. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. They should also have experience working with non-profit organizations and be familiar with non-profit accounting requirements. Additionally, applicants need to be a tech-savvy systems thinker and problem solver, extremely detail oriented, very meticulous, quick at responding to inquiries via email, text and phone and be familiar with a variety of software platforms. The Finance HR Support Specialist will work from home and meet with the team online or by phone at least 2-3 times per week as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure there is a signed contract
  • Ensure there is a signed contract with vendor payment procedures attached
  • Notetaker for Finance Committee meetings
  • Any additional assigned tasks
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Any additional required paperwork
  • Invoicing customers/clients
  • Insert vendor invoices in Bill.com
  • BoA donation until closed
  • Maintain accountspayable@ inbox
  • Chase until closed
  • All other necessary paperwork
  • Attend any necessary trainings
  • BoA Operating until closed
  • Complete Monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Amalgamated
  • Monthly prepaids reconciliation
  • Set up new contractors
  • W-4
  • W8- Ben is completed
  • Contract renewals (keeping track of when they need to be renewed)
  • Banking Categorizations
  • Prepare Payroll
  • Onboarding new employees
  • I-9
  • Monthly accrued PTO reconciliation


Compensation: DOE, part time position, 20 hours per week. 6 PTO days per year and 12 US holidays, 40 hours of paid sick time. Free admission to some CMSC sponsored programs, courses and events.
