How You Will Make Contributions That Matter...

The Finance Support Specialist applies the principles of accounting to support the Finance team is ensuring accurate Accounts Payable coding and processing, milk, ingredient, and packaging costs. Performs data mining and report execution for cost analyses. This position also supports accounts payable activities and monthly financial reporting. Requires a combination of technical business basics and personal skills.

• Apply accurate G/L coding and Cost Centers for AP processing as applicable.
• Perform data mining and report generation activities to support various production analyses as needed.
• Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
• Perform data validation and accuracy analyses in support of KPI monitoring.
• Coordinate new vendor setup processing with Corporate Supplier Maintenance Team.
• Coordinate with Procurement team on excess ingredient cost recovery.
• Reports and verifies weekly and monthly production and shipping reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Support month, quarter and year-end close activities including Cost Roll validations, providing JE detail support, and other closing activities as needed.
• Monitor and process Ariba invoices.
• Support annual budget creation exercise.
• Validate milk movements for accuracy prior to proration and back posting activities.
• Serve in backup capacity for Milk Balance Sheet analyses, Ariba purchasing, Fluid characteristics entries, batch production entries, chemical usage posting activity.
• Review and analyze weekly Plant P&L for posting errors and reasonableness of costs.
• Support internal and external audits.
• ARIBA Key User Purchase Order Maintenance.
• Update and maintain Prepaid Expense and Accrued Expense detail schedules.
• Manage the invoice review process in Esker for proper disposition of open payable items.
• Support office administration activities as needed.
• Analyze moving average costs of ingredients and packaging for significant changes.
• Validate data prior to cost rolls; including, cost categories, manufacturing processes, material cost rates, volume checks, and opening/closing stocks.

Job Requirements

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment.
• Associates degree in accounting (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A minimum of 2-4 years business, finance, or general accounting experience. Dairy plant or food industry, specifically in accounting, dairy accounting, helpful.
• Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
• ARIBA and Esker experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) and computer-based accounting ERP applications. SAP experience preferred.
• Skill in analysis, organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
