Student and Campus Life (SCL) at Cornell inspires student transformation through expert support on various student life matters for approximately 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across multiple campuses. With over 200 employees, Cornell Health provides integrated and culturally-sensitive care for mental health, medical services, health promotion, public health, and more, focusing on holistic health and well-being for students and the larger campus community. The Cornell Health Nursing & Clinical Support Services (NCSS) Department fosters student well-being through nursing and clinical support services, collaborating with colleagues to promote lifelong learning and health in a diverse campus community.


The Opportunity


Cornell Health seeks a Clinical Administrative Assistant (CAA) to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Clinical Administrative Supervisor, the CAA will be crucial in supporting the clinical and professional staff in the Counseling and Psychological Services and Medical departments. As the first and last point of contact with Cornell Health's patients and clients, the CAA will create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while providing excellent customer service to a diverse population.


As a CAA At Cornell Health, You Will


  • Provide support in a high-demand and volume office setting with in-person customer interactions, multi-tasking, and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record System (EHR) to manage client/patient scheduling and flow, including check-in and check-out, administration of surveys and questionnaires, and general administrative support.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and clients, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for a diverse population.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff and students, maintaining professional communication and confidentiality.
  • Engage in and support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing efforts, and work collaboratively in a psychologically healthy work environment.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information professionally and adhere to relevant laws and regulations, such as The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This position is an 11-month, benefits-eligible, 39-hours per week position located at Cornell Health, 110 Ho Plaza, Ithaca. Two main CAA shifts are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM or 8:30AM-5PM. You and your supervisor will mutually determine your shift and specifics of 11 months worked.


What We Need


  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and/or other computer software programs.
  • Previous experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Formal training beyond high school of one to two years, with at least two years of work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience providing support in a high-demand and volume office setting with in-person customer interactions.

  • At least one year of relevant work experience in a mental health and/or primary health care setting.
  • Knowledge of the Cornell community.
  • Previous work experience with college-age populations.
