Associate Vice President, Business & Corporate Development - RETAINED with Top 10 Global Big Pharma - NYC Hybrid Based or Remote + Travel + (min. 450k+ OTE)
SciPro is retained with a Top 10 Global Top Pharma on an Executive search for an AVP, Business & Corporate Development (Out-partnering) position. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join one of the world's largest and most well-established companies in the Pharmaceutical industry to join their corporate development team working on the negotiation and execution of agreements for their R&D funding. In this role you will be the go-to person for partnering activity and/or externalize development and commercialization rights for existing assets and portfolios.
This is a Group Lead position where you will manage an existing team, reporting into the VP, Corporates Development (2 layers removed from CEO) who is looking for a demonstrated leader in out partnering and out licensing for R&D funding deals. The transactions could involve anything from pre-clinical and clinical development stage assets, to commercialized asset divestitures, businesses within the company, site sales, and reversions of assets related to terminated agreements on a global, multi-national and/or regional basis. You will be responsible for the post-closing follow-up of the transition and financial performance of the agreement. In this role you will be successful if you have the following experience:
Work Experience:
- Must understand how to run an end to end deal – operational aspects of what this looks like, know who to speak with, negotiation, terms sheets, contract evaluation etc.
- Be savvy when it comes to financial evaluation
- Need to have done deals and be able to evidence this through deal sheets
- Must have Industry specific experience in Pharma – must have tolerance levels to navigate larger pharma companies
- Proven leader in out partnering and out licensing for R&D funding deals
- In depth understanding of which companies to go after, strategy and negotiation
- Direct management and leadership experience – will come in to manage 3x direct reports (2x Directors, 1x Senior Manager)

- Must be adaptable and able to build internal relationships
- Work style and personality is important - Must be humble, a team player and willing to learn
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment – extremely cross functional role – clin dev, finance, legal, mfg, etc. (highly matrixed)
