The incumbent will be responsible for driving the strategic planning process across the Bank by conducting external environment analysis, peer analysis, gap analysis, and incorporating inputs from all three lines of defense. S/he will also monitor and evaluate the implementation of strategic plan and impacts from changing environments, conduct strategic research to support the Bank’s business development and strategic decision-making, and assist strategy team lead with managing the strategic management framework and strategic communications with key stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning

• Develop long-term strategy for the Bank;
• Prepare presentations and templates to communicate and facilitate the strategic planning process;
• Track industry and competitive trends as a baseline for strategic decision-making, constantly considering potential opportunities and risks.
• Provide inputs to the establishment of the process and procedure of strategic planning;
• Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats embedded in each business line, and contribute inputs to the BOCNY strategic plan’s SWOT analysis;
• Assist in implementing risk-based strategic management framework under OCC’s Heightened Standards requirements;
• Provide critical analysis and participate in major strategic initiatives/projects across the Bank;

Strategic Monitoring

• Provide support to periodic reviewing of strategy plans;
• Develop methods and processes to track the progress of the bank-wide strategy execution;
• Identify gaps between the projected strategic; objectives and realized objectives, and analyses the reasons behind any gap;
• Collect data and create reports regularly for the senior management to support business decision-making;
• Closely monitor and analyze changes in the external environment including areas such as regulatory compliance, competition, technology, and industry trends.

Analysis on external environment, banking industry and peer group

• Research industry trends, competitor dynamics and current events and provide relevant business insights for potential business opportunities and innovative business models;
• Review the changing macro and industry environments dynamically.

Ad Hoc Project

• Produce ad hoc high-quality reports related to bank’s strategies and business development.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of strategy management related experience in the banking industry is required
• Ability to conduct research into economic and peer analysis in banking industry trends
• Advanced understanding of identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats embedded in each business line and the US and China macro economy regarding to the banking industry, financial market and economic policies required
• Bilingual abilities in English and Mandarin are required
• Solid knowledge in strategy management and banking industry research required
• Bachelor’s degree and above is required; Economics and Finance major preferred

The salary range for the AVP position is $65,000-$150,000. Actual salary is commensurate with candidate’s relevant years of experience, skillset, education and other qualifications.
