Description
SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Human Resources achieves the goals and mission of the Institute by directing, evaluating and managing the Human Resource Department. This position guides, mentors, directs and assigns staff and provides resources and guidance to HR employees and the organization at large. The Vice President will coach supervisors and organizational leadership in Human Resources policies, procedures, processes, workflows and laws and regulations related to Human Resources.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Partners with operations management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws.
  • Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Leads the development of
  • Maintains compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Oversees and manages the work of the Human Resources department and staff.
  • Leads the development of benefit orientations and other benefit training. Coordinates with Union Representatives regarding orientation to Union benefits.
  • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for the company with regard to employee relations. Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing governmental labor and legal reporting requirements including any related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the
  • Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with legal requirements, such as EEO, OSHA and others.
  • Establishes departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the
  • Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of such reports as are necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
  • Helps to identify vendors for services. Coordinates company use of insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administrators, and other outside sources and assists in managing those relationships.
  • Participates in investigations as needed. Recommends action based on results and facilitates decisions regarding separation agreements in those situations where they may be advised.
  • Manages employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • HR work in not for profit preferred
  • Basic computer and internet navigational skills
  • Computer literacy with Windows-based operating systems and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Bilingual Spanish Preferred
  • SPHR Preferred
  • Master’s Degree in HR or 10 Yrs. experience as HR executive
