We are currently looking for a Senior Manager of Human Resources to join our growing team in North America. This is a newly created leadership position to further develop the HR structure for the local organization.
You will report directly to the COO and will have accountability in partnership with management, for the development and continued success of the people function for VEJA North America.
Our office is based in New York City and offers a hybrid work environment.
It should be noted that if your application is considered, it will be handled by an external Executive Search firm that we are exclusively engaged with to conduct this search.

Main Responsibilities:
- Directly manage People Operations and Office Administration team. Perform other HR and office management duties as requested.
- Partner with managers to create learning and development programs and initiatives for employees across all levels.
- Manage the talent acquisition process, including although not limited to recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of talent, for both corporate and retail teams. Partner with managers on succession planning and team evolution, and communicate organizational chart as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Oversee payroll(s) provided by third party, including PTO management and reporting.
- Continue to build and enhance internal company culture. Establish and execute roadmap for office best practices as it relates to sustainability and inclusion.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; continually review policies and practices adhering to compliance.
- Collaborate with all team members, managers and leaders in the company to provide HR structure and guidance.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains talent, in line with company policy.
Requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to motivate, energize and relate to team members across all departments and levels.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- 5+ years of human resources experience as an HR Generalist/Business Partner. Experience in an omnichannel environment (wholesale, retail and eCommerce) with a likeminded brand is preferred.
- The estimated compensation range for this role is $125,000-$145,000 annually to align with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
- Commitment to the VEJA mission and vision; passionate about fair-trade brands.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field are required; French speaker is a plus.
