What You'll Do...


The Global Consumer Insights (GCI) team is part of the Global Marketing organization. The GCI team provides actionable consumer insights to teams throughout Ford Motor Company. As a member of Ford’s GCI team, the Strategic Insights Specialist is responsible for inspiring consumer-driven decision making into the development of future products and services.


This position is responsible for conducting strategic and innovation customer research projects and analysis to ensure customer insights are incorporated into advanced product strategy decisions. This includes deep customer understanding to represent the voice of the customer throughout the product development cycle. These include archetype, ethnography, and other customer research initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to refine the research process to support the high priority studies, customer definition, and innovative research.
  • Provide strategic support and consumer insights to identify customer wants and needs to ensure product development is consumer driven.
  • Analyze syndicated studies to report implications for Ford.
  • Manage research projects on-site and online, including analysis of results and development of management presentation.
  • Manage the planning, design, execution, analysis, and reporting of research events within budget.
  • Manage research supplier staff during research engagements to ensure project quality, design and analysis are aligned with business objectives and company standards.
  • Liaise and interface with key internal clients including planning, marketing, strategy, design and engineering to ensure research requirements are met.
  • Distribute reports and deliver impactful presentations. Publish final reports and presentations to the GCI Knowledge Management System.
  • Prepare Project Initiation Forms and Research Plan Forms for projects.
  • Coordinate with global research partners to plan and execute multi-regional market research events
  • Explore and maintain innovative research supplier base.
  • Potential travel 20%-50% dependent on in-person research
  • Represent research team through attendance and/or presentation of research results in various meeting forums


You'll have...


  • 3+ years of project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • 3+ years of market research experience
  • Bachelor's degree in market research, business administration, consumer behavior, psychology, anthropology, sociology or a combination of education and equivalent experience


Even better, you may have...


  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Experience in Ethnography, Archetype, Metaphor or innovation research
  • Strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and negotiating skills with a can-do attitude and an ability to work well with internal Ford clients.
  • Working experience supporting product development and advanced product strategy
  • Results oriented with a proven track record of attention to detail and on-time project/program delivery for large, cross-functional projects.
  • Working experience in automotive/mobility industry
  • Ability to translate and communicate analytical research findings into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven capability to think systemically, strategically, and analytically while executing decisively.
  • MBA, PhD or Master’s degree in field related to consumer insights.
  • Working knowledge of market research principals -- sampling, methods, analysis, and storytelling
  • Ability to integrate data and findings from other areas and present a holistic view of a position.
