Job Description
The Mom Project is excited to partner with KinderCare in their search for a Consumer Insights Specialist. This role is 100% remote.


KinderCare Learning Centers, LLC is an American operator of for-profit child care and early childhood education facilities founded in 1969 and currently owned by KinderCare Education based in Portland, Oregon. The company provides educational programs for children from six weeks to 12 years old. KinderCare is the third-largest privately held company headquartered in Oregon. In 39 states and the District of Columbia, some 200,000 children are enrolled in more than 1,250 (as of 2023) early childhood education community centers, over 600 before-and-after school programs, and over 100 employer-sponsored centers. In 2021, revenue was US$7.8B (2021).


KinderCare's Strategy team develops and implements our short and long-term strategic vision, drives the company’s achievements and, as the industry leader, influences heavily the entire early childhood education field. We accomplish this through strategic thought leadership, internal consulting, and ownership of critical initiatives and execution.


As Consumer Insights Specialist, you'll support key consumer insight initiatives to develop a defined view of our customers, our brands, our markets, and our industry to unlock the key wants and needs of families and drive organizational growth. In this role, you will conduct research to generate an understanding of consumers, competitors and the macro landscape to drive and validate our organization's strategy and transformation.


Responsibilities


  • Act as competition and intelligence subject matter authority, regularly providing strategic intelligence insights across the organization.
  • Serve as a key partner to the Director of Strategy and Transformation in recommending market and growth strategies based on consumer profiles and trends.
  • Translate data and key findings to inform insights.
  • Develop dashboards and presentations, including presentation materials for senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Lead assigned research projects and report ongoing status to ensure completion within the established timeframe.
  • Continue development of our consumer and brand segmentation.
  • Support Consumer Strategy Manager in the process of planning and performing quantitative and qualitative research studies (i.e., survey development, programming and testing surveys, analyzing data, and producing reports).


Qualifications


  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent storyteller with a proven record of delivering useful insights succinctly, in a compelling and engaging way.
  • Confident in expressing your point of view.
  • Market and competitive intelligence capability, finding meaningful insights for our partners regarding key market updates.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in insights, custom qualitative and quantitative consumer research.
  • Ability to clean, model, merge, and analyze large data sets. Problem-solving skills, investigation capability and sense of curiosity.
  • Willing to be “hands-on” with performing research and finding new ways to get insights.
  • Thrives in ambiguity - highly adaptable and very comfortable navigating ambiguous environments and/or processes and enjoys bringing clarity to others on project requirements, constraints and opportunities.
  • Experience with all or some of the following tools preferred: Qualtrics or other survey platforms like SPSS or Q, PowerBI or Tableau, Online community platforms (Vision Critical, My-Take, etc.), Competitive intelligence platforms like Klue or Crayon, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
