Job Description
Job Details:
The Director, Strategic Pricing, leads the development and implementation of pricing strategy and management tools/processes across the Tyson Prepared Foods portfolio. The right candidate will champion revenue growth and margin management principles, with an eye toward growing sales, market share, and improving profitability across all Business Units (BUs).
This role requires a visionary leader that will bring new thinking to the organization, benchmark Tyson’s current RGM position in the marketplace, and ultimately elevate it into an industry-leading capability. A member of the Strategic Growth Capabilities leadership team, she/he will lead a team of 10+ subject matter experts, including 3-4 direct reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develops playbooks to execute BU, customer, and channel pricing strategies, codifying, and maintaining clearly defined guardrails to drive pricing decisionables
  • Attracts, retains, and develops team members for future opportunities within and beyond the pricing team. Create a team culture that solves problems and partners well to drive impact
  • Monitors and understands external market conditions by analyzing competitive pricing, data, trends and opportunities across categories and customer/channel segments
  • Translates brand strategy into pricing roadmap in partnership with Prepared Foods Sales and BU leadership, providing strategic thought leadership on revenue growth and margin management initiatives
  • Oversees development of KPIs/dashboards that monitor pricing execution, enabling leadership to clearly understand outcomes and impact on financial results
  • Ensures proper tools, systems, and data/insights are in place to further advance Tyson Prepared Foods’ leadership as it relates to pricing strategy across our categories, customers, and consumers
  • Consults with BU GMs and other key cross-functional partners on Price Pack Architecture (PPA) recommendations and contributes internal/external benchmarking, opportunity sizing, and pricing inputs to AOP and Strategic Planning workstreams
  • Executes on-going analytics on base and promotional pricing, as well as ad-hoc pricing and promo analytics as needed
Qualifications:
  • Robust strategic and analytic tool kit, with proven history of applying tools and methodologies to construct and communicate a fact-based narrative that synthesizes complex business problems into clear, concise, compelling, and easy-to-understand outcomes
  • 10+ years of strategic pricing leadership experience in a fast-paced CPG or like environment. Proven experience in pricing architecture development, rooted and grounded in a deep consumer and customer orientation, that drives positive business results
  • Prior experience managing teams with 3+ direct reports, 10+ total team members with varying levels of experience
  • Travel: some travel required, up to 2 trips per quarter
  • Demonstrated experience communicating to and working collaboratively with business leaders and team members across all organizational levels to set the agenda, engender buy-in, and drive action, in a matrixed organizational environment
  • Possesses the capability of multi-tasking under high-pressure situations while demonstrating the agility to pivot strategic thinking and recommendations in dynamic COGS environments
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent master’s degree preferred
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills with strong financial / P&L acumen
  • Innate ability to see both the big picture and the granular details at the same time and how they relate to one another to create an excellent value proposition to the business and to our customers and consumers
