The Sr. Program Manager, Marketing Strategy develops marketing strategies and marketing plans for multiple, complex programs, initiatives or lines of business within the co-op. This role requires exceptional analytical thinking, creative problem solving, comfort with strategic frameworks, and using a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative data to inform sharp, compelling and effective marketing. The ideal candidate has an obsession with learning about the customer, and a love for both the art and science of marketing Annual and multiyear marketing strategies include articulation of business and marketing objectives, target customer, positioning, and strategies and serve as a foundation for marketing and channel communication, activations and campaigns.

This position collaborates with execution teams across Integrated Marketing, creative, channels (paid, social, email, in store, digital etc) and programs to ensure all customer-facing touchpoints reinforce the strategy. May have direct reports within the marketing strategy team.

Your Planning & Navigating Requirement
  • Builds an in depth understanding of the customer and competitive landscape, drawing on custom research, syndicated research, internal analytics data and desktop research. Works with business partners and customer insights to define customer problems to solve and articulate customer needstates, jobs to be done and mindsets.
  • Develops marketing strategy for multiple programs or lines of business to support REI’s customer and business objectives. Includes established programs as well as new initiative launches, innovation and iterative test and learn.
  • Creates clear and compelling presentation materials to communicate the strategy and create cross-divisional and leadership visibility to the marketing plan. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Works cross-functionally to build a cohesive customer-facing marketing plan, including campaigns, marketing channels, programs, content, digital, partnerships and community.
  • Tracks performance of key metrics including awareness, consideration, perception, conversion, sales data and marketing metrics, and optimizes marketing plans to address gaps or opportunities.
  • Contributes to 3-year co-op marketing strategy and annual marketing planning.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in marketing strategy and may consult with other business teams and marketing team partners.
Bring your passion and expertise
  • BA in Business, Marketing or related field
  • 7+ years experience in Innovation, Brand Management or Marketing
  • Exceptionally collaborative, able to build rapport and gain alignment with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience working with brand strategy and creative teams, solid understanding of creative briefs, skill with evaluating creative against a brief and delivering creative feedback.
  • Working knowledge of consumer insights, experience commissioning insights work, interpreting and applying customer insights findings. Ability to identify customer needs and draft strategies and plans that deliver on those needs.
  • MBA preferred
  • 3 + years’ experience in developing marketing strategies in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Proven success in building customer plans to drive awareness, conversion and retention. Experience defining KPIs, analyzing performance and reporting. Solid analytical skills.
  • Advanced skills in MS-Office business applications, ability to learn new tools and platforms
  • Storytelling and presentation skills. Able to distill complex information into compelling presentation materials to effectively communicate vision, objectives and strategies with cross divisional peers, team members and leaders.

The pay for this role is: $96400 - $154300 per year .
