Job Summary:

The Sr Strategy & Analytics Consultant helps Southwest deliver on our Purpose by leading and conducting research and analysis intended to understand Southwest Airlines operations and providing ideas to develop, enhance and improve performance. This Sr Consultant applies analytical, technical skills, and business/operational knowledge to lead the Team into solving business problems. They demonstrate deep understanding of interaction between different areas within the Company, and they’re capable of visualizing cohesive strategies that can be executed across multiple Teams. This role understands data sets, business concepts, and operational processes while being capable of preparing and presenting the Team’s work to Senior Leadership.

Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the research and analysis of trends, the development of new strategies, processes, tools and reports
- Facilitate and share technical guidance on principles and topics to groups around the business
- Leverage his/hers and the team’s technology skills (SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, Tableau, Big Data Concepts) and business knowledge to provide answers to business requests
- Drive cross-departmental improvements for processes, staffing, schedule design, and irregular operations preparedness and management
- Handle and manage multiple concurrent projects assigned to the team
- Ability to perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
- Directly involved in understanding, improving and sharing available data sets with other teams within the business
- Mentor other team members and help develop Analysts and Consultants within and outside the team
- Lead the development and improvement of models and process including supporting their downline implementation
- Conducts analysis using optimization and other available tools to create and compare scenarios offering insights into how different ideas perform
- Transform raw data into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings

- Ability to comprehend and manage optimization software and any other available tool to interpret results and create iterative processes for improvement
- Ability to interpret data, draw implications and adjust the analysis approach as required
- Ability to teach data, tools, techniques and business knowledge to junior team members
- Working knowledge of Southwest Airlines operations
- Ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to clearly communicate complex principles like schedule design elements, work rules and business processes to all audiences both verbal and in writing
- Highly skilled in attention to detail
- Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment
- Ability to train and lead junior team members on data, tools, techniques, and business knowledge
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to large audiences including senior leadership
- Ability to lead on projects and serve as subject matter expert
- Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of organization, philosophies, and procedures around the different areas involved in the operation
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple tasks working as a team player with little supervision
- Ability to present to a critical audience and handle situations with conflict
- Knowledge of SQL (Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite. Expert Excel and Power Point skills
- Preferred: Experience / working knowledge of Alteryx
- Proficiency using Tableau or other data visualization software
- Proven expertise in presenting to Senior Leaders
- Proficiency in data collection, applied statistics, business analysis, and presentation
- Proven expertise in Network Planning, or Airline Operations
- Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
- Preferred: Experience with SQL, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proficiency using Alteryx or other data manipulation software
Licensing/Certifications
- NA
Physical Abilities
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guideline
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $124,550 per year to $138,400.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
