Position Overview:The Finance Director will oversee our organization's financial operations, ensuring efficient management of resources. You will maintain accurate financial records, develop budgets, and analyze data to support decision-making. Collaborating with the executive team, you will set financial goals, monitor performance, and provide strategic insights. Managing transactions and financial reporting, you will ensure compliance with regulations and facilitate transparency. While this is currently a volunteer position, it presents an opportunity to shape our organization's financial future and potentially transition to a paid role. Responsibilities:
As the Finance Director, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising and mentoring finance staff.
- Presenting financial information to the board of directors and stakeholders.
- Providing financial insights for strategic decision-making.
- Leading the budgeting process and monitoring budget performance.
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports.
- Evaluating and improving financial systems, processes, and procedures.
- Managing all financial aspects of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Developing and implementing financial plans and strategies to support organizational goals.
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations.
- Managing grant funding and ensuring financial tracking and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of nonprofit finance and grant management is desirable.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial planning.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
Financial Goals:As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit our primary financial goals include achieving our targets to support our mission and programs. These goals include:
- Annual Fundraising Goal: $250,000 -Develop a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to achieve the target amount. -Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including major donors and foundations.
- Monthly Fundraising Goal: $20,000 - $25,000 -Develop and implement monthly fundraising initiatives and campaigns to generate the target amount. -Engage with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners to secure ongoing support.
- Semi-Annual Fundraising Goal: $125,000 -Identify and leverage opportunities for significant fundraising during the semi-annual period. -Collaborate with the development team to explore innovative fundraising strategies and campaigns.
- Quarterly Fundraising Goal: $60,000 - $65,000 -Plan and execute quarterly fundraising events and activities to raise the target amount. -Cultivate relationships with major donors and explore grant opportunities for sustained funding.
