Weaveworks helps enterprises build better software and operate it reliably, at scale. We’re thought-leaders and industry changers when it comes to Cloud Native technologies and practices. Our approach - GitOps - is where continuous delivery meets Cloud Native and it puts our customers on the path to continuous everything. We have a globally distributed, remote-first team of 140 technologists, consultants and sales people, supported by a small operations function. We’re on a path of continual improvement, keen to support our US based employees better - so we’re currently hiring a US based, generalist People Lead (a role often called HR Manager.)


You will get to;

  • Manage 2 direct reports based in the UK and Egypt.
  • Lead projects that mature the people function. We lack much of the infrastructure and systems you’d expect in a company our size, so this is an amazing opportunity to help build the HR tech stack and shape process and policies in a scaling business.
  • Be the go-to person for employee support and engagement across the US. Currently 40 people, mostly sales and technologists, but growing again when we raise our Series D.
  • Work across the whole employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with managers to support the development and growth of their teams.


What you'll bring;

  • A personal passion for one of the following; recruitment, L&D, D&I or comp and bens.
  • A desire to automate all the things. You love getting the most out of systems like Gusto and BambooHR, share tips on Gmail and Slack shortcuts and always want to know if there’s an API for that. You avoid duplication and love finding ways to get systems integrated so that employees spend less time seeking approvals for things and more time doing impactful work.
  • In-depth knowledge of US employment law and benefits. From 401ks to auto-enrolment, W-2s to I-9s, you balance compliance with offering benefits, processes and policies that are tailored to a workforce that is highly technical, highly skilled and in-demand.
  • Strategic thinking. You want to be part of a high performance, international, highly inclusive, workplace culture. You get that this means standing in the shoes of people different to you, incorporating their viewpoints to your work and connecting the people space with the strategy and vision of the business.
  • Enthusiasm for creating amazing employee experiences in a remote first context. We don’t mind if your remote experience started with Covid, or if you’d done it before, but you really want to geek out about the opportunity and challenges remote first brings.You’re opinionated about remote vs hybrid vs office and love to have your opinions challenged as we evolve our EVP.

A willingness to work across timezones will help with team collaboration, however candidates in the Eastern time zone would be preferred, for collaboration with the People team in the UK.
