The Role

We are looking to bring in a Project Manager to join our growing Strategic Finance organization. We are seeking an individual who can quickly grasp a16z’s vision and opportunity as a global technology institution. You will be working closely with our Strategy, Finance and Operations leadership team to drive special projects, define and report on metrics and help define and stand up new projects to help the firm scale. The full a16z team spans hundreds of people in multiple locations, and we are investing in rapid growth plans, giving you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and initiatives. As the Project Manager for Strategic Finance, you will work closely with all stakeholders in the Strategic Finance team, spanning Business Finance, Corporate Finance, Fund Strategy and Portfolio Monitoring. In addition, you will actively work with cross-functional partners across IT, Accounting, Security, HR, Legal and other teams to efficiently implement scalable programs authentic to our values.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Execution for special projects spanning strategy, finance and operations, as well as firm-level activities.
• Manage agenda and follow ups from weekly staff meetings across teams as well as other teams.
• Own team calendar and ensure timelines and deliverables are tracking and finalizing to the defined program timelines.
• Drive and track deliverables across the strategic finance team with frequent updates and status reports to the team leaders.
• Operationalize the team’s business metrics (KPIs/Goals, reporting dashboards, etc.), including helping to compile, track and report OKR’s.
• Partner with all strategic finance teams to identify and track deliverables that span multiple teams - financial reporting, portfolio company health, fund performance and status, etc.
• Example projects may include: headcount and budgeting processes, firmwide enterprise risk model, new business model creation, aggregated portfolio health and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with financial modeling, business planning and Google Suite tools are a bonus
• Innate desire to identify inefficiencies and build scalable solutions or processes to address
• Friendly presence and helpful attitude, the desire to learn and not be afraid to ask questions.
• Ability to prioritize and manage work and trade-offs against critical project timelines in fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Strong mindset for innovation, continuous improvement, and intense intellectual curiosity.
• At least 5-7 years of experience in operations / strategy consulting, program or project management within business operations roles.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem solving skills.
• An eye for detail, with absolute confidence in zero-error output, knowing the value of a polished finished product.
• Previous experience implementing programs, processes, and reporting frameworks that measure results.
• Derives positive energy from working in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and has the ability and passion to balance multiple priorities.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $176,000-$205,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
