POSITION SUMMARY:
The Desktop Support Administrator I’s role will provide a single point of contact at assigned campus/campuses for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop computing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
NETWORK CONTRIBUTIONS
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Ingenium Schools’ noble cause, values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of cooperation
- Strive to implement, by instruction and action, Ingenium Schools’ philosophy of education and goals/objectives in connection with Ingenium’s Signature Practices
- Continuously maintain and improve professional competence
- Attend mandatory trainings, professional meetings, and educational conferences, as required
- Initiate and exercise good judgment and positive working relationships with the community, students, staff and with public and private agencies
POSITION CONTRIBUTIONS
- Provides technical support to users related to client hardware and software.
- Installs Ingenium Schools-approved hardware, software, peripheral, and non-computer equipment upgrades.
- Interfaces peripheral devices with computers.
- Maintains competency in current operating systems, desktop computer hardware, and peripherals used at Ingenium Schools.
- Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces client hardware including, but not limited to, desktop and laptop Windows or Macintosh computers.
- Maintains microcomputer security compliance according to Ingenium Schools’ standards.
- Maintains accurate reporting of work performed using enterprise-level ticket tracking system.
- Assists users with network security issues such as file system rights, account access, and password maintenance.
- Maintains inventory control of parts required in repairs or replacement.
- Primary work space will be located at Ingenium Barack Obama Charter School and Ingenium Clarion Charter School but must travel throughout network as needed.
- Performs field support at any Ingenium Schools facility or school site as needed.
- Identifies computer software, hardware, and communication problems.
- Configures hardware and software to match environment.
- Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
- Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.
- Liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh computer systems.
- Knowledge of various client imaging technologies for Mac OS and Windows-based computers.
- Knowledge of network printer configuration and support.
- Knowledge of computer software packages, (i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
- Knowledge of networking concepts such as directory and file rights, account creation, and network security.
- Knowledge of communications and connections between computers, peripherals, and networks.
- Skilled in the use of common hand tools such as pliers and screwdrivers.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret complex materials.
- Ability to replace computer and peripheral components.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and assist users (teachers, administrators, students).
- Ability to relate well with students, employees, and the public.
- Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
- Possess physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum of 2 years (3 years preferred) of professional work experience supporting desktop computer equipment in an enterprise environment
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or information technologies preferable
- Relevant and current certifications in information technologies highly desirable.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, including MAC
- Excellent technical knowledge of PC internal components, including MAC
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Extensive equipment support experience with printers, document cameras
- Working technical knowledge of current networking protocols, and Windows and MAC operating systems
- Advanced knowledge of popular browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as Google Apps.
- Familiarity with smartphones software such as iPhone and Android
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides

Working Conditions
ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of duties performed sitting indoors while looking at a computer screen. Some exposure to childhood and other illnesses.
