JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Desktop Support Administrator I’s role will provide a single point of contact at assigned campus/campuses for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop computing environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES:


Essential functions include, but are not limited to:


NETWORK CONTRIBUTIONS

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Ingenium Schools’ noble cause, values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of cooperation
  2. Strive to implement, by instruction and action, Ingenium Schools’ philosophy of education and goals/objectives in connection with Ingenium’s Signature Practices
  3. Continuously maintain and improve professional competence
  4. Attend mandatory trainings, professional meetings, and educational conferences, as required
  5. Initiate and exercise good judgment and positive working relationships with the community, students, staff and with public and private agencies

  • POSITION CONTRIBUTIONS

    1. Provides technical support to users related to client hardware and software.
    2. Installs Ingenium Schools-approved hardware, software, peripheral, and non-computer equipment upgrades.
    3. Interfaces peripheral devices with computers.
    4. Maintains competency in current operating systems, desktop computer hardware, and peripherals used at Ingenium Schools.
    5. Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces client hardware including, but not limited to, desktop and laptop Windows or Macintosh computers.
    6. Maintains microcomputer security compliance according to Ingenium Schools’ standards.
    7. Maintains accurate reporting of work performed using enterprise-level ticket tracking system.
    8. Assists users with network security issues such as file system rights, account access, and password maintenance.
    9. Maintains inventory control of parts required in repairs or replacement.
    10. Primary work space will be located at Ingenium Barack Obama Charter School and Ingenium Clarion Charter School but must travel throughout network as needed.
    11. Performs field support at any Ingenium Schools facility or school site as needed.
    12. Identifies computer software, hardware, and communication problems.
    13. Configures hardware and software to match environment.
    14. Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
    15. Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.
    16. Liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
    17. Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
    18. Ability to adapt to change quickly.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    1. Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh computer systems.
    2. Knowledge of various client imaging technologies for Mac OS and Windows-based computers.
    3. Knowledge of network printer configuration and support.
    4. Knowledge of computer software packages, (i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
    5. Knowledge of networking concepts such as directory and file rights, account creation, and network security.
    6. Knowledge of communications and connections between computers, peripherals, and networks.
    7. Skilled in the use of common hand tools such as pliers and screwdrivers.
    8. Ability to maintain professional demeanor.
    9. Ability to work independently and establish priorities, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
    10. Ability to read and interpret complex materials.
    11. Ability to replace computer and peripheral components.
    12. Ability to effectively communicate with and assist users (teachers, administrators, students).
    13. Ability to relate well with students, employees, and the public.
    14. Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
    15. Possess physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

    1. Minimum of 2 years (3 years preferred) of professional work experience supporting desktop computer equipment in an enterprise environment
    2. College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or information technologies preferable
    3. Relevant and current certifications in information technologies highly desirable.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    1. Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, including MAC
    2. Excellent technical knowledge of PC internal components, including MAC
    3. Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
    4. Extensive equipment support experience with printers, document cameras
    5. Working technical knowledge of current networking protocols, and Windows and MAC operating systems
    6. Advanced knowledge of popular browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox.
    7. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as Google Apps.
    8. Familiarity with smartphones software such as iPhone and Android
    9. Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
    10. Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides

    Working Conditions


    ENVIRONMENT:

    Majority of duties performed sitting indoors while looking at a computer screen. Some exposure to childhood and other illnesses.
