The Marketing Data Operations & Technology Team


Okta’s Marketing Data Operations & Technology function drives the MarTech strategy and delivery to optimize marketing performance, streamline and automate processes, and scale for growth.


The Senior Marketing Operations Manager Opportunity


Reporting to the Director, Marketing Operations, this role will drive the management and optimization of Okta’s Marketo instance. You will partner closely with functional teams to manage our Marketo roadmap, drive a program of internal processing efficiency, operational excellence and support a framework of data driven insights. As the subject matter expert, you will drive the Marketo strategy and evolution, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. You will maintain, optimize and ensure scalability of our Marketo instance, third-party integrations and processes. You will ensure Okta is maximizing the value of technology capabilities within the marketing space.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Serve as a technical Marketo subject matter expert.
  • Partner with the Data Science team to ensure that all necessary data across Marketo and the wider Marketing Technology ecosystem is available for reporting. This will involve working with integrations with analytics tools and databases - via tools such as FiveTran and Tableau for example.
  • Drive the global strategy and evolution of Marketo and its third-party integrations. Routinely auditing, optimizing and managing the core operational processing programs and architecture.
  • Support marketing for scalability and end-to-end data flow. Identify gaps with data flows, integrations and tools. Provide solutions through training, processes and new technology.
  • Be the Marketo subject matter expert, troubleshooting, surfacing weekly reporting, as well as identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with new Marketo and marketing ops developments. Evaluate and recommend strategic improvements to continually optimize and develop the effectiveness of the platform.
  • Partner with the Marketing Automation & Analytics team to ensure that data collection and data transfer across Marketo and the Marketing Technology ecosystem support the marketing needs.
  • Manage vendor relations for contracting, training and support. Partner closely with procurement for contract and renewal management.
  • Manage and optimize the Marketo-SFDC Sync. Provide weekly reporting on known sync issues, latency, and end-to-end lead flow speed.
  • Oversee the implementation of Marketo and Marketo integrations as a subject matter expert. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including technical architecture and business requirements.


What You’ll Bring To The Role


  • Extensive experience working with Marketo APIs
  • A critical thinker and problem solver, with an eye for detail
  • Marketo and Salesforce expert
  • 5+ years of Marketo experience in an systems-administrator role, with exposure to supporting systems integrations. Experience with multi-million person Marketo databases is preferred.
  • Marketo Certified Expert (MCE)
  • BS/BA or equivalent required
  • 7+ years relevant Marketing Operations experience at a fast-growing B2B SaaS company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across functionally and geographically distributed teams


And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!


  • Experience of integrating with analytics platforms (Tableau, Datorama, Google Data Studio/Looker Studio).
  • Experience of core analytics tools supporting effective Marketing Technology infrastructure, such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Experience Cloud (preference for Google applications).


Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:


$158,000—$221,000 USD


The OTE range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:


$175,000—$245,000 USD
