The Senior Director of Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) is a critical leadership role within our aerospace/defense company, based in Washington, D.C. This position is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and processes related to sales forecasting, inventory management, and operations planning to optimize the company's performance and customer satisfaction. The Senior Director of SIOP will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and executive management to ensure alignment and successful execution of the company's business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive SIOP strategy aligned with the company's overall business goals and objectives. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Sales Forecasting: Lead the sales forecasting process by analyzing historical data, market trends, and customer demand patterns. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop accurate sales forecasts, identify potential risks, and establish mitigation plans.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory management process, including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and inventory control. Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
- Operations Planning: Develop and implement robust operations planning processes to optimize production capacity, resource allocation, and supply chain management. Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services to customers.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including sales, marketing, finance, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Collaborate closely with these teams to align SIOP strategies, share relevant information, and address any operational challenges.
- Performance Measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the SIOP process. Regularly monitor and analyze performance data, identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide strong leadership to the SIOP team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Mentor and develop team members, ensuring their professional growth and success.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present SIOP strategies, plans, and performance updates to executive management and other stakeholders. Clearly articulate the value proposition, benefits, and impact of SIOP initiatives on the company's overall business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in sales, inventory, and operations planning in the aerospace/defense industry.
- Proven track record of successful SIOP implementation and optimization in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain management, demand planning, inventory optimization, and production scheduling.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced planning tools is highly desirable.
