Job Summary


The Senior Director Procurement drives the vision, direction and execution of the Semiconductor, Mass Storage, CPU, and Switch categories across the entirety of NetApp. Reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer, the Senior Director enhances NetApp’s corporate-level performance through the effective management of a significant portion of NetApp’s direct spend.


He/she leads the organization in leveraging this spend to improve productivity, optimize cost efficiency and align with corporate business strategies to optimize value. This is a transformation leadership role, tasked with driving the category team to world class performance in sourcing, procurement and supplier management.


Key Interfaces: Global Procurement Staff Leadership team, VP Supply, VP/Senior Director of Engineering, VP/Senior Director of Product Marketing, senior management of third-party part suppliers


Job Responsibilities


  • Develop and enable the integration of best practices across NetApp, ensuring the best use of effective sourcing and supply chain tools, techniques and processes
  • Maintain a powerful and contemporary category sourcing structures, to deliver competitive cost and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Lead the sourcing and procurement of Semiconductor as well as Mass Storage, CPU, and Switch categories including strategy, planning, demand balancing, sourcing, contracting, and procurement, as well as supplier evaluation, selection, management and development.
  • Oversee the management of existing supplier relationships and the selection of new sources of supply where needed and appropriate, ensuring that high quality and cost-effective materials are available to the company to support a Lean supply chain.
  • Leverage a global perspective to quickly assimilate external information (e.g., market drivers, macroeconomic conditions, etc.) to anticipate its impact across the business and develop associated strategies and action plans to maximize the opportunity.
  • Demonstrates NetApp values (Put the customer at the center, care for each other and our communities, build belonging every day, embrace a growth mindset, think, and act as owners)
  • Think and act globally to lead and collaborate effectively on a cross-functional basis. Align business unit, local, regional, and global organizations to maximize achievement of sourcing objectives and continuity of supply to position sourcing as a competitive advantage for the company.
  • Ensure timely delivery of qualified equipment, resources, and materials to the operations to allow for rapid introduction of product to the marketplace, while minimizing capital, including material cost and inventory.
  • Act as a steward of NetApp’s sourcing talent pipeline. Build a diverse, high performing sourcing organization, including the development of local talent in-market. Coach, mentor, and develop outstanding sourcing talent across the team.
  • Define overall strategic direction for category team, including defining and driving performance metrics, proactive procurement process development, assuring supplier diversity and compliance, deploying cost modeling, and developing appropriate market intelligence.


Experience and Education


Qualifications


  • Strong track record of driving operational improvements (design and build) to support the business strategy.
  • Strong background in managing strategic relationships with top category suppliers with established rolodex of executives in leading Semiconductor companies.
  • Managerial experience – has managed other managers and developed global teams of at least 20 or more.
  • Experience executing international sourcing initiatives and operating with global responsibility; at a minimum, experience should include extensive work with suppliers outside the US.
  • Deep market knowledge of Semiconductor and ideally additional experience in managing Mass Storage, CPU, and Switch Categories
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing a strategic plan resulting in significant financial and operational benefits for the organization.
  • Direct responsibility for a spend base of at least $1B of direct spend.


Education


A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related technical field is required, with an MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

USA Residents Only:


The base salary hiring wage range for this position which the Company reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position in the specified geographic areas or locations, is [$231,210] – [$305,470]. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors relevant to the position and candidate such as geographical location, candidate qualifications, certifications, relevant job-related work experience, education, skillset and other relevant business and organizational factors, consistent with applicable law. In addition, the position may include some of the following comprehensive benefits such Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid Time off (PTO), sick time, leave of absence as per the FMLA and other relevant leave laws, Company bonus/commission, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s).
