Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
With general direction and detailed knowledge of employment processes, University policies, and taxation and immigration regulations provides administrative and customer service for the hire and life cycle changes of all employees across the University. Duties include processing hires, rehires, terminations, retirements, and life cycle changes for all employees in HRMS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as a back up to team lead, checking in paperwork, ensuring all appropriate authorizations are noted, ensuring all applicable policies, tax rules and immigration rules are followed. Checks math on pay changes and account distribution changes to ensure accurate reporting by departments. Educates departments regarding PAF, 800 and 211/220 procedures.
- Works with department administrators, payroll, benefit, International Services Organization (ISO), dean’s offices and HR field offices to resolve complex issues related to pay, status, title, retroactive changes, etc. Understands and applies UR policies and procedure, tax rules and immigration rules when process each request.
- Provides clerical support to the Employment & Service center as needed. Cover other areas of HR as needed. Create files, labels and other documents as needed. Assist at the front desk or at new hire orientation as needed. Organizes documents for mailing to record room in accordance to standard protocols.
- Performs quality checks on all transactions processed each day to ensure accuracy of information in the system. Uses established queries to analyze transactions made each day and makes appropriate fixes in a timely fashion. Organizes work completed each day according to established guidelines.
- Data input of hires, transfers, promotions and other life cycle changes in HR Information System (HRMS) for staff, faculty, post docs, grad and undergrad students, residents and house staff. Understands and applies the established rules for each type of employee and each type of transaction. Utilizes current documentation as well as experts to ensure entry of non-routine transactions are done properly to ensure accurate, pay, account distribution, benefits and status for each employee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years of post High School education or equivalent experience. 2 years in Human Resources or related functions. No experience required with a Baccalaureate degree. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
