Lit Fiber is looking for a Vice President of People Operations (“VP of People Ops”) to launch our People Operations team. We are seeking someone who understands where we are in our evolution as a company, is ready to excel at this stage of our growth and proactively build a high-performance organization in preparation for our ongoing development. This role reports directly to the Chief Business Officer and will partner closely with the executive leadership team to ensure successful strategic alignment across the organization.
The VP of People Ops will have overall responsibility for directing the Company’s Human Resources functions. This role will create innovative human resources services and programs that enable our people to develop, grow, and succeed, while also balancing a strategic and high-level perspective of the company and being hands-on. At this stage, we are seeking a candidate who has the strategic experience and skills, and a willingness to perform the generalist and administrative items until the full team is built.
Responsibilities:
The VP of People Ops’ essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
HR Operations
- Drive a high-performing culture in alignment with our values that ensures equity and inclusivity across the organization.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all employment-related aspects of the organization with thorough knowledge in such areas as EEO, OSHA, FLSA, Wage and Hour, FMLA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and development for the People Operations team, ensuring the team's effectiveness and capability.
- Develop and implement development and succession planning strategies.
- Provide training, mentoring, and development opportunities, and the associated budget, for management on topics including, but not limited to diversity, equity and inclusion, unconscious bias, and other key aspects of effective management.
- Lead all People Operations department-driven initiatives (e.g. compensation and review cycles) and ensure HR processes align with business and operational cadence.
- Manage and augment effective compensation and benefit packages for employees.
- Partner with executive leadership and senior leaders on key retention strategies.
- Provide strategic leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts company-wide.
- In partnership with the Recruiter, continue to redefine and implement an approach on attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent for our corporate and market teams.
- Strategically partner with executives and senior leaders to manage, improve, and grow People Operations.
- Develop and execute long-term HR strategies and policies for the Company in alignment with corporate initiatives, and shorter term initiatives aligned with business objectives, and oversee roll-out processes of such strategies and policies.
- Work with executive leadership and the Director of Employee Experience to develop effective internal communications between and among management and employees to promote morale and achieve company-wide goals.
Qualifications:
- A track record of building strong, effective teams with complementary skill-sets
- Progressive HR experience, including prior experience leading the HR function for a high growth organization
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders
- Leadership experience developing talent management functions such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, succession planning and performance management
- Experience developing HR systems and services for organizations whose employee base span from working full time on-site to fully remote and across multiple states
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience managing M&A or financing transactions from People Ops aspects
- Experience working in the broadband/ telecom industry strongly preferred
- Ability to think strategically but also focus on tactical and operational issues
- Candidates located in or in close proximity to Lit Markets (Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, or Michigan) preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
