Job Purpose
The Director of Operations Excellence will oversee the implementation of innovative technologies, processes and launch and manage new organization wide projects in conjunction with the Vice Presidents and Regional Ops Directors and our Information Technology team. The role will help identify and deliver on projected ROI and efficiencies identified through rigorous project management. The Director of Operational Excellence will develop SOPs/best practices to drive uniform adoption and execution in the branches. Developing proper toll gates and scorecards to manage the results to expected KPIs by allocating project resources and partnering with the field operations team is a key element of the role.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Operations Excellence duties, based on organizational needs and priorities.
- Support and manage critical relationships with external partners for technology driven projects.
- Project management of new rollouts and KPI dashboards to drive cost and service improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT and data support teams along with the Ops field leaders.
- Provide consistent, effective, and open communication to the organization and external partners.
- Lead operational management teams to achieve develop and/or improve operational processes under tight deadlines.
- Working with the Vice President of Operations to assist the operations management team in setting policies, procedures, and systems and following through with implementation while consistently advising of progress.
- Build and develop an Excellence team to lead the implementation of new processes, technologies etc. in the areas of warehousing, transportation, and routing.
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly access current systems and processes to identify strategic areas of improvements by way or technology changes or process changes.
Qualifications and Experience

- Must have excellent communication skills to effectively deal with different functional managers.
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Possess a broad-based general technology mindset.
- The ability to build strong professional relationships with internal and external partners.
- Analytical skills and experience identifying potential issues and developing contingency plans.
- Experience successfully managing an operational budget.
- At least 10 years of management experience within a distribution and service-oriented environment
- Technical skill in working in various WMS systems, Power Warehouse, Power BI tools, Roadnet, Descartes, Blue Yonder, Manhattan, Proof of Delivery systems, etc.
- Proven record of delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality within an operations or industrial work environment.
- Excellent prioritizing and organizational skills, and good decision-making skills
