We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Director of Policy Operations with a strong background in public policy to engage with the government to ensure that new education programs put the interest of families first and work in ways that allow a marketplace to grow and thrive. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in government or regulatory affairs, vendor management, and project management, preferably in a public policy or government setting, with a proven track record of success. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing policy implementation initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and in a way that dramatically improves the customer experience for families.
Your Responsibilities Include
- Manage budgets, including tracking expenses and ensuring that project costs do not exceed budget.
- Manage projects with vendors from inception to completion, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and improve the customer experience for families.
- Coordinate project activities with relevant stakeholders, including project team members, vendors, and contractors.
- Develop strategic plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor progress and communicate project status to relevant stakeholders. Prepare project reports and presentations, and present project updates to management.
- Define project goals and objectives and establish metrics to measure success.
- Meet with agency and government officials to share feedback from families on program design and implementation.
- Identify and manage project risks and issues and develop contingency plans as necessary.
Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in different states simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- 10+ years of experience in government or regulatory affairs, vendor management, project management, preferably in a public policy or government setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel at least 15% of the time
