Summary
The Director of Memphis Manufacturing is responsible for safe, sustainable, cost-effective, and customer-focused on-time/in full delivery of quality manufactured goods to our customers. Exhibit relentless pursuit of continuous improvement in process safety, occupational safety and health, operational excellence, and OEE metrics
Key Activities
- Ensure all elements of risk-based process safety fundamentals are consistently embedded in all aspects of plant design, operation, and maintenance.
- Ensure effective Performance Management of direct reports by making certain that job descriptions are current, appropriate performance measures are agreed upon, and compliance and accountability standards are in place.
- Lead the site leadership team in developing capital expense plans and budgets, including project justification and execution.
- Ensure facility resources are aligned as needed to ensure the product is available to ship on time / in full.
- Identify and implement projects and process improvements (manufacturing and business processes) to deliver continuous improvement in OEE metrics.
- Consistently apply company policies and procedures within the Memphis site.
- Ensure site operational discipline relative to delivering cycle time adherence for smooth implementation of the MTS/MTO production wheel strategy.
- Embrace S/H/E responsibility and 100% accountability for all personnel and property within the span of control.
- Ensure training and operational discipline relative to delivering the OEE concept of batch-to-batch quality consistency.
- Lead and develop the maintenance manager to ensure effective implementation of predictive/preventive maintenance required for process safety and maximizing OEE through consistent equipment availability.
- Deliver operational excellence in the attainment of production requirements and customer satisfaction
- Work with a master planner and detailed scheduler to effectively design, implement, and continuously optimize a production wheel scheduling model that optimizes the MTS/MTO strategy for delivering optimum shipped on time / in full performance while balancing inventory levels.
- Ensure that the team members take full responsibility for their personal growth and career development.
- Lead the technical and production teams to ensure plans for recovering off-spec or aged inventory are developed and implemented in a timely manner with operational discipline to optimize working capital
- Lead, direct, and manage the Memphis site leadership team, to ensure the team has clear direction and expectations.
- Develop and maintain a full understanding of the chemical and process hazards presented by Memphis production processes.
- Establish and maintain an optimum organizational structure.
- Lead the site leadership team in developing the operational expense budget for the site.
- Continuous occupational S/H/E improvement to ensure a safe workplace and environmentally sound operation
- Safeguard company assets (human and property) through prudent, risk-averse decision-making.
- Ensure accountability for decisions and actions consistent with process safety requirements.
- Develop a fundamental understanding of Memphis manufacturing processes to enable participation in process troubleshooting activities when needed (working with process engineers).
- Lead development and implementation of OEE metrics for the site (yield, quality, schedule attainment).
- Ensure site operational discipline in the consistent implementation of process safety fundamental programs (e.g. risk and hazard assessment, management of change, incident reporting and investigation, etc.).
- Effective contributions and engagement in understanding and execution of process safety management fundamentals
- Ensure site operational discipline relative to following and improving manufacturing process procedures.
- Ensure environmentally responsible and compliant operations through appropriate engineering and administrative controls.
- Ensure clear connectivity between good performance and reward.
- Champion the safety vision, S/H/E initiatives, and programs within the site.
- Be an advocate for Memphis site associates by providing communication channels for ideas and concerns.
- Lead the technical team in ensuring process conditions are optimized to balance cycle time and quality (OEE).
- Ensure operational discipline throughout the site for consistently safe choices and behaviors.
- Empower, train, and support the team to ensure best practices are consistently applied and continuously evaluated for improvement.
- Lead and manage the Memphis site leadership team
- Engage others in solving process safety problems that are beyond the current level of understanding.
- Review site budget performance and adjust spending plans/controls as needed to consistently deliver leverage goals.
- Ensure operational discipline in housekeeping and drive/sustain 6S initiatives.
- Attainment of site financial goals (CapEx, OpEx, and FCF)
Preferred Skills
- Accredited master’s degree in business administration
- Experience in a facility that processes highly hazardous chemicals as defined by OSHA’s Process Safety Management standard
- SAP Experience
Educations & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Chemical Engineering.
- More than ten years of related experience and/or training in a chemical manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for batch reaction processes
