Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded individual to fill the role of Director of Procurement at our thriving chain restaurant. The Director of Procurement will play a pivotal role in overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain management processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services for our restaurant locations. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the restaurant industry's supply needs.


Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the restaurant's overall business goals and growth objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation in procurement processes.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring consistent quality, on-time delivery, and compliance with established standards.

Inventory Control:

  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste, excess stock, and shortages, while ensuring optimal product availability.
  • Oversee inventory levels across all restaurant locations, balancing the need for sufficient supplies with cost-effectiveness.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for procurement activities, aiming to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, volume discounts, and efficient supplier negotiations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with various departments, including culinary, operations, and finance, to understand their procurement needs and align strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure clear communication channels between procurement and other teams to meet supply demands and resolve any issues.

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to procurement, sourcing, and supply chain management.
  • Uphold ethical procurement practices, promoting sustainability, diversity, and fair labor practices.

Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of procurement processes.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management detailing procurement performance, trends, and recommendations for improvement.

Team Leadership:

  • Delegate tasks, set clear expectations, and empower the team to achieve procurement objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering their growth, skill development, and engagement.


Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful vendor relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, market dynamics, and emerging trends.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
