Job Description
We're looking for a dynamic Communications Director to join the JPMorgan Chase Communications team and support the Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) business, which serves companies from startups to midsize businesses across dozens of industries. This role will primarily support our global Innovation Economy (IE) business which serves high growth companies and investors within this ecosystem with a focus on Technology, Disruptive Commerce, Life Sciences, Venture Capital Coverage and Green Economy sectors.
As a Communications Director, you will support MMBSI's head of specialized industries and work with other senior leaders, bankers and cross-functional partners including Product, Marketing, Digital and Content to develop and implement a high impact communications programs that supports the business's strategic priorities. You will need to deeply understand the IE ecosystem and execute end to end communications campaigns. With a focus on executive communications, external communications and media relations, you will help bring the business's story to life with key stakeholders, advise senior leaders across the business and partner with key internal functions to deliver measurable results. Being an excellent writer and knowing how to activate across all communications channels is essential to this role.

Job Responsibilities
  • Use creative storytelling skills to humanize the business and tell high impact stories, as well as breakdown complex subjects for different audiences
  • Stay up to date on communications trends and industry news, contributing insights and helping to identify opportunities to create greater impact through strategic communications while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead robust media relations program and build and maintain strong relationships with key national, trade and local media, securing strategic storytelling opportunities for spokespeople
  • Develop strong relationships with key partners including Marketing, Content, Digital and Legal and collaborate effectively across the broader organization on executive communications, employee engagement, social media, content development, events, etc.
  • Develop communications assets including press releases and media facing statements, talking points, thought leadership articles and award submissions
  • Develop and implement a strategic communications program that is aligned with the business's goals and serve as an advisor to senior leaders across the business to anticipate and solve for communications needs
  • Media train and prepare spokespeople for media engagements

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
  • Strong executive presence, judgement and ability to build trust with key partners and stakeholders and collaborate effectively
  • Analytical, strategic approach to problem solving and finding solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team, contributing on a strategic and tactical level
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills and excellent attention to detail
  • 12+ years of experience in corporate communications, with proven experience in exec comms, PR and media relations
  • Understanding of the financial services industry; experience in the startup and venture capital space or related industries
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, comfortability with navigating matrixed organizations
