Our client is currently seeking an exceptional, seasoned debt capital advisory Managing Director to establish and lead a debt capital raising platform. Our client has significant experience analysing, managing and successfully executing performance improvement, business transformation, turnaround and restructuring advisory matters as well as related investment banking transactions. The firm is now looking to leverage bulge bracket investment banking expertise to expand and further enhance our ability to deliver creative, customised solutions to middle market clients through capital solutions.
This Managing Director, Debt Capital Advisory role offers an opportunity for the ideal candidate to leverage the firm's rapidly expanding platform to work alongside the Head of Investment Banking to build a debt capital markets practice. The role is a business development and client delivery leadership position that represents a unique opportunity for highly capable professionals with a proven track record and relevant network to make substantial contributions to overall firm growth. This is a key role in enabling middle market clients to create a capital structure that allows them to achieve their strategic priorities. Managing Directors focus on developing new and existing client relationships, lead challenging and complex engagements within a small, collaborative team environment as well as ensure all aspects of engagements are delivered with the highest quality standards and impact.
Responsibilities
- Working with the team of Associates to Managing Directors to lead execution of all deliverable workflows
- Overseeing the preparation of financial models, company marketing materials and client presentations
- Maintaining an expert understanding of the drivers of credit quality and valuation, the mechanics of credit agreements and investment documentation, market dynamics and the landscape of debt and equity investors
- Managing research and analyses activities in support of thematic publications and new business generation
- Partner with team members to execute business development strategies
- Managing investors throughout capital raise process including overseeing their diligence
Qualifications
- Commanding knowledge of current market terms and trends
- Must have direct experience in client development, engagement development, negotiating / selling and leading engagement teams
- Commitment to out-perform in high pressure, time-constrained environments
- Track record of successfully executing debt, equity or hybrid financings through changing market conditions and cycles
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business across a network of corporate relationships, private equity sponsors, lawyers and / or lenders
- Expert in project management and client-facing activities, including leading client presentations, business development meetings, developing work plans, planning and execution of work, supervising team and coordinating with other internal and external service providers
- Experience supervising other professionals and acting in a manner that that serves to motivate, inspire and develop
- 14+ years of capital-raising including leveraged finance, LBO financing and refinancing in the middle market
- Bachelor’s degree from a top university required (Graduate Degree is a plus)
- Experience with privately held and sponsor-backed businesses
- Proven leader in the delivery of high-quality work that exceeds client expectations
- Located or willing to self relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, or New York
- Applicable professional certification(s) are preferred
- Deep relationships with private and public lending institutions including commercial banks, private and public debt funds and equity capital providers
- Eagerness to be responsive at all times and act with urgency
Compensation
- The annual base salary for this role is estimated to be $300,00 per year.
