Job Description
Job Purpose


BTIG is seeking a Director to join its Converts team in the Investment Banking group in New York. The ideal candidate will demonstrate potential to take on a significant role in deal execution by providing day-to-day support to senior bankers and clients while also providing professional guidance to junior team members.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Conduct thorough due diligence including but not limited to client visits, analyzing business models, and comprehensively reviewing industry trends and related regulations
  • Understand the complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.)
  • Provide deal expertise and oversee the delivery of creative and timely pitches with and without junior team members
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implement strategic initiatives
  • Analyze financial information (economic, industrial, and corporate developments) to produce forecasts of business, industry, and economic conditions for use in advising clients on deals
  • Monitor client, industry, and regulatory agencies for potential changes that may affect client needs
  • Work alongside the Compliance team to ensure all BTIG activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior client executives; actively develop, manage, and participate in the Firm’s business development and marketing initiatives
  • Work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion
  • Provide motivation and guidance for the team by acting as lead trainer, providing constructive feedback, and articulating the roles and objectives for BTIG team members
  • Recommend and take ownership of measures to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Generate significant and sustained revenue and identify future revenue opportunities
  • Lead the coordination and presentation of multi-jurisdictional sales proposals to international clients
  • Oversee all aspects of the transaction life cycle: client sourcing, marketing, due diligence, negotiation, documentation, and closing


Requirements & Qualifications


  • The successful candidate must be able to travel to internal and client meetings, corporate preparation sessions, and industry events and conferences
  • Must be based in the New York Area
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and proficiency with relevant banking-related databases / applications (Bloomberg, CapIQ, etc.)
  • Strong work ethic, detail orientation and a passion for excellence
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to comfortably interact with business clients and management
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in presentations, as well as express complex financial strategies in an organized and articulate manner
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
  • Must have FINRA Series 63 & 79 licenses
  • The ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings
  • Highly organized, proactive, energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier school with a minimum GPA of 3.5; 7+ years of direct investment banking experience


Compensation


  • BTIG offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
  • The current estimated base salary range for this role is $240,000 - $300,000 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
