Sr. Director, Communications Jobs

Barstool Sports is looking for a Sr. Director, Communications to join our growing team in New York. This individual will support our organization by working closely with all members of the team to develop Barstool’s strategic communications direction, reporting directly to COO, Jonathan Berkowitz. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an innate storyteller, familiar with the Barstool Sports brand, and passionate about and has experience working with rapid-growth digital-focused companies. This role will be essential to accomplishing Barstool’s long-term goals and supporting the company’s continued expansion.

What You'll Do:

• Liaise with reporters, sponsors, and other key stakeholders and act as a spokesperson for the company
• Work closely with leadership team to continue to develop Barstool’s voice and niche in the media landscape
• Craft the overall long-term communications vision for Barstool Sports
• Identify creative proactive communications opportunities for talent, staff, and executives/leadership
• Identify third-party commentary topics, trends, and news agenda items in order to proactively pitch and secure daily media coverage
• Oversee and direct all aspects of Barstool’s internal and external communications
• Immerse yourself in Barstool’s brands; consume and follow relevant content and apply learnings to new opportunities
• Write and edit press releases, media advisories, briefings, statements, and speeches on a wider corporate level beyond content launches
• Network and build new, authentic relationships in relevant spaces such as media, entertainment, sports, and technology
• Support the development of internal content, marketing efforts, and brand and commercial functions as needed
• Establish communications policies and best practices to be implemented at every level

What You Have:

• Innovative thinking and ability to ideate, conceptualize, and see concepts through to completion
• Consistent track record of securing high-level media coverage
• Corporate communications experience supporting C-suite executives
• Proven experience managing a team and acquiring and developing high potential employees
• A robust network of relationships
• Expert understanding of the media landscape, trends, consumer habits, and potential challenges; particularly of digital, social, and emerging formats
• Prior knowledge of Barstool Sports
• Passion for storytelling and exceptional communication skills with a keen understanding of how to craft and evolve narratives
• Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally with different personality types
• Strong grasp of partner and sponsor relationships
• 10+ years of experience in either digital media and/or rapid-growth companies
• Insatiable drive and a self-starting attitude
• Ability to multitask and be organized, adaptable, and reliable

Pay Range: $180,000- $200,000
