Typical Work Activities
- Projects data for master payroll annually;
- Maintains records for professional tenure appointments;
- Prepares various monthly and annual reports including but not limited to reports on civil service and instructional retirement, unemployment insurance reports and statements on service and salary;
- Prepares, dictates or drafts letters to employees, payroll office and retirement systems on matters pertaining to salary and status of employees;
- Prepares the necessary certifications as to service, salary and deductions for employees;
- Prepares reports as required relating to such matters as professional certification, retirement benefits and changes in civil service status;
- Assists the Executive Director in carrying out the functions civil service and instructional personnel;
- Completes complex studies of personnel problems covering such matters as salary, tenure, leaves of absence and personnel regulations;
- Ensures personnel changes are in compliance with Civil Service Rules, Regulations and Law;
- Advises supervisor of appointments, changes, leaves of absences and resignations or terminations to be acted upon by the members of the Board of Education at their meetings;
- Supervises the preparation of payrolls including salary determination and calculation of deductions;
- Prepares routine correspondence and answers inquiries of school district employees pertaining to personnel policies;
- Performs technical personnel work involving various phases of personnel administration;
- Performs related duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of or a designee.
- Maintains roster file of all employees;
- Processes paperwork for personnel transactions such as appointments, resignations, terminations or retirements;
- Organizes and supervises the maintenance of personnel records relating to appointments, probationary terms, longevity, certification of professional employees, salary and leave credits;
- Ability to supervise the work of others;
- Ability to maintain accurate record and prepare reports;
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of public personnel administration;
- Ability to understand and interpret written material;
- Ability to establish a good working relationships with school district officials and employees;
- Working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in record maintenance, payroll certifications and the processing of personnel transaction;
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full time experience in personnel work
- Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and four years of full time experience in personnel work
- An equivalent combination as defined within the limits of A and B.
