Job Description

An industry-leading safety and compliance solutions provider is looking for a Learning and Development Specialist responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs that support the professional development of its employees. The ideal candidate is a learning management system expert with extensive knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles.

Salary: $100,000-$115,000

Location: REMOTE – Must be in Houston or Greater Houston area

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop training programs, including classroom-based, online, and on-the-job training.
  • Ensure that learning solutions incorporate best practices in adult learning theory.
  • Participate in HR and talent management projects and initiatives as required.
  • Deliver training through various methods, including classroom facilitation, web-based, electronic, and printed material, eLearning modules, etc.
  • Apply branding standards to stakeholder’s content (i.e., design templates, standards, style guides, technical specifications, etc.)
  • Work directly with technical subject matter experts to capture course-specific knowledge.
  • Manage employee appreciation committee activities and participate in and contribute to employee engagement initiatives as needed.
  • Develop and maintain learning and development metrics to track program effectiveness and measure the impact on employee performance and business results.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training needs and priorities.
  • Partner with external training vendors to leverage best practices and resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Work with HR business partners to define learning solution objectives to ensure the impact can be measured and is linked to business goals.
  • Develop training materials and resources, including instructor-led and self-paced courses, manuals, and videos.
  • Manage and maintain the LMS, including configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and quality assurance of training materials and courses; provide technical support to employees and managers regarding the use of the LMS.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to learning and development.
  • Conduct needs assessments to determine the most effective training methods and materials.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles required
  • Authoring tool experience essential; Articulate Storyline preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience designing and delivering a variety of training programs
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
  • Elevated level of professionalism, executive presence, and credibility; able to effectively challenge and influence peers and customers
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS)
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in design, development, and delivery of instructional material in a corporate setting
