Job Description
Under general direction of the Desktop Manager of Student Affairs IT, incumbent serves as staff expert on Student Affairs integrated systems and services. Incumbent analyzes complex issues, resolves a variety of system issues and determines appropriate action and solutions. Independently performs day-to-day advanced consultation, training, troubleshooting and complex problem-solving to technical staff and divisional wide end users for hardware, software, network and related computer systems, handheld, peripheral devices. Install, troubleshoot, track, document and upgrade departmental hardware and software as assigned. Applies and manages security configurations on devices. Incumbent establishes and maintains Active Directory security groups and computer and email accounts. Using Student Affairs endpoint device management systems creates complex specifications for systems to meet end-user requirements. Centrally deploy applications and maintain up to date system and application security patches for hundreds of PCs at a time. Installs vendor and third-party software and performs complex testing of software to ensure proper operation and conformance to test plans. Provides on-site, remote, phone, and email support. Performs security gate servicing and vendor related responsibities. Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, and maintains the Windows desktop master images for the divisional workstations and laptops. Applies and manages security configurations on devices. End to end deployment process for devices. Designing, deploying and configuring windows 10. . Incumbent establishes and maintains Active Directory security groups and computer and email accounts. Build Scripts using PowerShell to automate tasks. Using Student Affairs endpoint device management systems creates complex specifications for systems to meet end-user requirements. Document and maintain software licenses and hardware inventory. Assist in the implementation of standards and procedures to ensure computer security and compliance with UCLA and Student Affairs Policy.

Required/Preferred
Expert knowledge of operating systems (Windows OS X).
Preferred
Ability to document and maintain software licenses and hardware inventory. Assist in the implementation of standards and procedures to ensure computer security and compliance with UCLA and Student Affairs Policy.
Required
Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot local and network based printers and services.
Required
Basic knowledge of Internet protocols including TCP/IP and related protocols in a switched Ethernet environment.
Required
Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise wide patch management software to report and remediate OS and application security vulnerabilities.
Required
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems including advanced imaging (MDT) and deployment technique.
Required
Working knowledge of projectors and related audiovisual devices including wireless media streamers.
Required
Detailed knowledge of and experience with backup/recovery, patch management, and anti-virus software.

In-depth and demonstrated working knowledge to diagnose, upgrade and replace computer hardware

Detailed knowledge of enterprise level deployment toolkits for remote installation of operating systems and software for both Windows and Mac OS.
