Our State Government Practice Group (SGPG) is seeking an experienced IT Strategist / IT Governance and Management Consultant to join our team. You should have experience leveraging and institutionalizing IT governance, management, and operational best practices and frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, SFIA, NIST, TOGAF, CIS, CMMI, ISO, SAFe, and PMI) to help IT departments optimize their operations in a rigorous and comprehensive manner. The candidate filling this position can be located remotely, anywhere in the United States, or can be located in any one of our physical offices.
You will support state government IT department clients (including those with centralized, decentralized, and federated models) by applying your knowledge and experience in IT governance and management, IT strategy, and IT operations by:
- Conducting organizational assessments (including assessing staffing structure/models and processes) and providing detailed recommendations for improvement
- [Primary Focus Area] Assessing their current and desired IT governance and management maturity and developing/implementing multi-year plans to incrementally close their maturity gaps
- Assisting them to modernize their IT support systems (e.g., ITSM/ticketing, chargeback, and/or asset management) via system planning and procurement efforts
- Collaboratively developing multi-year IT strategic plans
You will bring a mix of exceptional organizational and self-management qualities, strong leadership capabilities, ability to grow and sustain a team, effective written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to travel.

Travel expectation: Approximately 50% travel to client sites is anticipated to support client engagements/projects.
Responsibilities:You will:
- Communicate project and delivery status to our clients, team members, and other stakeholders, including the facilitation of client meetings
- Develop project deliverables for clients
- Work with BerryDunn contractors to ensure their proper delivery of project deliverables
- Serve as project manager and/or lead on client projects across the country, supporting client work and deepening team knowledge
- In partnership with our internal team, support business development and opportunity management activities to respond to state government IT department opportunities
- Lead and support the delivery of services to clients on time, within scope, and within budget, including assigning and managing staff and creating work product
- Participate in marketing and business development activities, including writing blog posts and participating in prospective client business development meetings
You have:
- Experience developing multi-year IT strategic plans (a plus, but not required)
- Experience assisting IT entities/departments to modernize their IT support systems (e.g., ITSM/ticketing, chargeback, and/or asset management) via system planning and procurement efforts (a plus, but not required)
- ISACA (i.e., COBIT, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT), DevOps, ITIL, BRM Institute, and PMI/Scrum/Agile certifications (a plus, but not required)
- 3 or more years’ experience leading or consulting on IT operations using IT governance, management, and operational best practices and frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, SFIA, NIST, TOGAF, CIS, CMMI, ISO, SAFe, and PMI) to help IT entities/departments optimize their operations in a rigorous and comprehensive manner
- Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with diverse teams across multiple time zones
- Willingness to work in a small team setting, often developing deliverables for managerial review on your own
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and achieve quality results in a timely manner
- Demonstrated critical thinking and logical reasoning skills
- Experience assessing IT entity/department current and desired IT governance and management maturity and developing/implementing multi-year plans to incrementally close maturity gaps (a plus, but not required)
- Proficiency in all Microsoft (MS) applications including MS Project and MS Visio
- Ability to draft client-facing reports/communications in a professional/constructive manner
- Experience conducting organizational assessments of IT entities/departments (including assessing staffing structure/models and processes) and providing/executing recommendations for improvement (a plus, but not required)
- Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups in person as well as in a virtual environment
