Head of Global Business Development
Pin Therapeutics, located in South Korea and South San Francisco, is developing a new drug discovery platform based on targeted protein degradation. The emerging technology utilizes small molecule compounds to selectively degrade disease-causing proteins, and Pin Therapeutics has multiple programs at various stages of discovery exploring proprietary and target selective PROTACs and molecular glues.
Pin Therapeutics is inviting an exceptional professional in business development to join our drug discovery team. The Head of Global Business Development will have the key role in developing and executing Pin’s strategy for building new business relationships with global partner Biotech and Pharma companies with a focus on drug development and clinical applications. This individual will be responsible for the flow and management of the deal process from early discussion initiation, and agreement discussions through deal close. The position is highly collaborative in nature and will require working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and R&D teams to identify and close new deals which are consistent with the goals and capabilities of the company.
Job Summary
- Coordinate with Pin’s scientific, operations, and leadership teams to present comprehensive and up-to-date proposals that accurately capture Pin’s technical capabilities and status.
- Maintain wide networking with potential global pharma and biotech partners and prepare and present Pin’s vision and capabilities to generate interest from those prospective partners.
- Be a major contributor to the definition and ongoing refinement of Pin’s corporate strategy, and scientific and global business objectives.
- Through in-depth interactions and discussions with cross-functional Pin team members such as Legal, Finance, and R&D, set the framework for, and construct innovative, value-creating deals to meet Pin’s strategic and financial objectives.
- Lead proposal development, term sheet generation, and negotiations
- In addition to being externally focused to understand customer needs, you will need to build strong internal relationships, working across functions to identify problems with potential business development implications, find solutions for these issues and thus deliver an outstanding outcome for stakeholders within Pin.
- Source and effectively negotiate successful outcomes for potential commercial and strategic partnerships, collaborations, etc.
Keys to be successful, you need
- Experience and an established network within biotech and pharma companies and familiarity with the drug discovery and development process.
- The candidate should be comfortable working remotely, executing most work by video or phone calls, interacting with colleagues in different countries and time zones, and be available for calls outside normal working hours.
- To be willing to travel domestically and internationally as required to meet prospective partner companies as well as be present at major international business development meetings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly describe and rationalize business development plans to both inside and outside stakeholders.
- The candidate should be an energetic and resourceful self-starter with high integrity, a strong executive presence, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- An appreciation of the relevant legal and financial considerations of corporate partnerships.
- Significant experience and an appreciation of the role of different business models in growing a business (e.g., partnerships, collaborations, licensing, services)
- Strong scientific and drug discovery and development background, preferably a graduate degree in Life Science. An MBA is desirable, but not necessary.
- 10+ years of experience and a proven record in business development within the global biotech and pharmaceutical industry.
- To be a good team player, with clear evidence for productive collaboration in a complex and geographically distributed company environment. Adapt and be flexible to changing priorities.
- To build and service multiple leads simultaneously, balancing emerging relationships with ongoing ones, and addressing all needs in a timely manner.
