Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Business Development to join our client, a national provider of domestic and international drayage and trucking services, and non-asset based 3PL drayage solutions throughout the United States.


As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for driving sales and expanding our client's market presence on the west coast, while also selling the full portfolio of services nationwide. This is a remote position, but regular travel will be required to meet clients and prospects as necessary. The successful candidate will have a strong intermodal sales background, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.


Responsibilities:


  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand visibility and network with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth implementation and execution of services, while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and competitive activities to identify new business opportunities.
  • Identify and target key prospects and clients in various segments, including IMCs, shippers, freight forwarders, and logistics companies.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve business growth objectives for domestic intermodal drayage services on the west coast and throughout the US.
  • Conduct sales presentations and negotiations to secure new business contracts and partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and opportunities using CRM software.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with the operations and customer service teams to ensure excellent customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Prepare and present sales reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommended strategies.
Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in sales, specifically in the intermodal drayage industry.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of domestic intermodal drayage, trucking, and 3PL solutions.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to meet clients and prospects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while maintaining a high level of self-motivation and discipline.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Valid driver's license.
