About the Role:
The safety manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of the functional safety activities in the development phases of the safety lifecycle. The safety manager maintains the safety plan and monitors the progress of the safety activities against the safety plan.
Meet the team:
The safety and cyber security team leads safety & security related activities on a safety critical system and ensures autonomous driving systems, processes. The team works on ISO26262, ISO21448 & ISO21434. Your contribution will have an unequivocal impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology. We are looking for teammates who are passionate about working in this hands-on environment.
Our team is performing safety & security analysis to identify risk and define requirements for system level, HW & SW level to mitigate the risk. Together with our HW/SW suppliers, we develop a safe autonomous L4 truck system.
What You'll Do:
- Support the continuous improvement process
- Competence management (e.g., training, education, qualifications)
- Compile and sign off on the Safety Case documenting the functional safety of a product
- Tailoring of the safety lifecycle (adaptation of the safety lifecycle phases in accordance with responsibilities)
- Promote a safety culture
- Be involved in creation of the Development Interface Agreement (DIA) work product to define the interfaces and documents between customer/supplier
- Deliver training on the use and implementation of the functional safety processes
- Ensure the necessary confirmation measures are undertaken
- Perform tasks laid out in ISO 26262:2018 part 2
- Support Functional safety assessments and audits
- Own the safety plan work product, to plan and track safety activities
- Monitor the escalation process for functional safety
- Develop company-specific policies and processes
- Conduct resource management
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Excellent experience in Systems engineering, preferably including in automotive software
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or related engineering field required with 7 years of engineering experience
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
- Demonstrated proficiency in the application of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) or IEC 61508
- Valid US Driver's license with a safe driving record required. Position requires transportation to locations outside the main complex
- Knowledgeable in ISO 26262:2018 processes
- Must be well-organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of management
- Knowledgeable in automotive systems & technologies
- Ability to thrive in a face-paced environment with quickly changing business needs
- Strong knowledge of automotive, heavy-duty trucks, or aerospace industry products
- Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate resources, prioritize effectively, and maintain programs and initiatives simultaneously and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
- Ability to ethically handle sensitive and confidential information with impartiality and professionalism.
