Safety Manager Jobs

Monadnock Construction, Inc. is a General Contractor and Construction Management firm founded in 1975. The company is a leader in the construction of quality affordable housing throughout the five boroughs. Monadnock has grown to a team of nearly 300 people with anywhere from 15-20 active construction jobs at any given time.

Our projects include new and rehab multi-family residential and commercial developments. The success of our projects relies heavily on the performance of Monadnock’s Safety Team.

The Safety Manager’s key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with subcontractor safety history during selection process with project teams
• Maintain communication with Project Managers about upcoming buys
• Work directly with Safety Team and project teams to enforce Monadnock’s safety policies
• Review and monitor recommendations issued by insurance company on their web based system
• Review assigned projects for specific safety concerns. Identify with the project team to have a clear vision on the approach on the project before trades are purchased and for items that need to be included in the scopes of work
• Attend safety pre mobilization meetings with all trades, especially with major and higher risk trades
• Track any lessons learned due to incidents or near miss investigations. Work with senior management to ensure this knowledge and any policy changes are then shared with all operations staff
• Maintain thorough communication between insurance company and Super on assigned project. Respond to insurance recommendations from site visits in a timely fashion
• Work with Project Executives to ensure safety standards are consistent across all projects and increase accountability
• Work with Safety team to establish specific safety plan to respond to recommendations in an effort to prevent repeats
• Work with team to develop a standardized system of strong, relevant information on company server, to be used as a resource for project teams
• Participate in safety pre-planning process and suggest ways to improve processes to be implemented across the company
• Review and update start-up checklist for Supers and trades with project team as required
• Keep up to date on all new requirements from agencies and ensure that they are distributed to company
• Collect, organize and distribute relevant safety information and metrics to company
• Coordinate and run meetings with the Super and Trade Foreman for all high risks activities identified as they arise on jobs and before any work begins

Requirements

• NYC DOB SSC or SSM License preferred but not required
• 32 Hr Suspended Scaffold Training and 32 Hr Supported Scaffold Training Preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in a Safety role working in NYC building construction
• Salary range: $90,000 - 130,000. The salary range provided reflects a base salary range only and not total compensation. The offered salary will be based on an individual's qualifications and prior work experience
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Extensive knowledge of relevant safety requirements including OSHA, NYC DOB, NYC DEP, DOT, local, state and federal regulations
• Technical, Undergraduate, or Master degree in safety or related field preferred, but not required
