Position Title: Multi-Level Industrial Safety Engineer

Work Location:INL Site

Work Schedule:4 x 10, M Th

Salary Midpoint: \$78,115 - \$99,465

Position Purpose:

The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) at the Radioactive Waste Management Complex is seeking an industrial safety (IS) engineer interested in growing their industrial safety experience and gaining more knowledge during operational and cleanup activities.

Performs safety and health functions as assigned by management. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned.

• Provides industrial safety support to the Idaho Cleanup Project projects as assigned.
• Evaluates effectiveness of controls.
• Performs assessments to evaluate compliance with requirements.
• Provides feedback to management to ensure implementation of requirements to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Tasks may include but are not limited to participating in initial task/activity/process design and development; review of drawings and plans; physical walk-downs of tasks/jobsites/facilities; obtaining industrial hygiene (IH) tech qualification to help in collection of exposure measurements using IH equipment; issuance of respirator protection. Work assignments may include support of shop work, hazardous waste operations, construction, demolition, and office/administrative settings.
• Develops solutions to complex problems, applying ingenuity, innovation, and creativity.
• Must be able to work effectively under self-direction, including prioritizing tasks and assignments.
• Supports Company goals for operational excellence, Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS).
• Identifies, interprets, and assists management in the implementation of industrial safety functional requirements.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

Engineer Associate: Baccalaureate degree in industrial safety or a closely related field plus 1 year of experience in safety/IH related field

Engineer: Baccalaureate degree in industrial safety or a closely related field plus 2 years of experience in safety/IH related field

Engineer II: Baccalaureate degree in industrial safety or a closely related field plus 4 years of experience in safety/IH related field

Special Requirements/Training:?

Must be able to obtain ICP qualification in Industrial Safety within 1 year of employment.
