Job Description
Job Title - Safety Operations Manager


Location - Knoxville, TN 37902-1401


Job Type- Full Time
Shift-
8:00am to 5:00pm
-
  • Mentor and develop safety leadership in field safety consultants for behavior based safety principals and concepts.
  • Support Business Unit in the development and implementation of safety plans, outage plans, and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) that match the risk and needs/requirements of the operations and corporate safety policy.
  • Advise Director of Health and Safety, Business Unit leaders of safety culture/conditions within their organization.
  • Support Business Unit leaders with alignment toward an incident-free safety culture.
  • Review site industrial hygiene plans and recommend improvements.
  • Recommend improvements to the CAO and COO health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support field safety consultants by providing central coordination point and outlet for escalation of site safety concerns/conditions.
  • Facilitate reporting of safety events including near hits and other safety-related information to COO and Corp. Safety.
  • Support site management in the coordination and closure of safety assessments, regulatory inspections, and audits.
Education- B.S. degree in engineering or science (safety related field) or documented evidence of equivalent demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities. Training in the field of industrial safety is preferred.
Experience - Ten or more year's progressive safety experience in utility operations/generation. Depending on Business Unit assigned, position requires a strong background in nuclear, transmission or non-nuclear generation. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Certification/License, etc ? Certified Safety Professional is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities -Outstanding leadership skills; Ability to plan and direct all program initiatives with a passion for safety; Proven and demonstrated ability to convey and motivate teams in the area of safety and health activities; Knowledge and understanding of Federal, state, and local health and safety laws, and regulations; Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with Senior Management, field personnel, internal office staff, contractor clients and staff, as well as government agencies and officials. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
Additional Job Details
Will be needed to cover the Eastern and Central Regions for FM Projects. Can be filled in Knoxville or Chattanooga.
