Job Description
What to Expect
Work with developers, product managers and designers to ensure delivery of great experience with new features. As firmware at Tesla is changing rapidly and is being released to customers at an unprecedented rate, the need to test every release iteratively to catch issues quickly is high priority. You will put on your customer hat while performing your day-to-day duties and make sure we provide the most awesome experience imaginable.
Scope contains but is not limited to driving, safety/security, autopilot, charging, closures, updates, UI, etc. Attention to detail is key as test results will provide debug and steps to drive a firmware fix.
What You’ll Do
  • Vehicle behaviors include but are not limited to: Driving, autopilot, charging, closures, windows, updates, and UI
  • Track persistent bugs and conduct iterative tests on releases to pinpoint when bugs were introduced
  • Debug issues on various Tesla vehicle features and components
  • Communicate issues discovered clearly and directly to developers and program managers
  • Support critical releases, with critical timelines
  • Conduct system level tests on Tesla vehicles upon every Firmware release
What You’ll Bring
  • Team player yet capable of being highly independent
  • Knowledge of CAN architecture highly desired
  • Enjoys working on exciting time-critical projects
  • 2+ years of system diagnostic experience
  • Vehicle technician/service/diagnostics experience highly desired
  • Able to communicate (written/verbal) issues and concerns clearly across the Firmware org
  • Electrical debugging experience highly desired
  • Experience using JIRA and other Atlassian tools
  • Valid driving license and clean driving record (must be able to operate a vehicle)
  • Experience with a variety of hand and power tools
  • Good logical reason and understanding of basic physics
  • Proficiency in general data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail for conducting tests while driving
  • CDL a major plus
