Qa Engineering Manager Jobs

New Classrooms is seeking a QA Engineering Manager to lead quality assurance and testing for our personalized education products and services. The Technology and Engineering Division handles all the “behind the scenes” work necessary to develop, manage, test, and support the daily operations of the Teach to One programs. The QA Engineering Manager will collaborate with both an internal engineering team as well as the engineers of our partners to ensure that we are delivering the best possible experience to the teachers and students that use our products every day. In this role your job is not just test management, but to be an advocate for quality during all parts of the development process, and to partner with team members and other departments to make sure that we are building quality into everything we do.

This role is remote and requires some overlap with our headquarters timezone of EDT/EST.

Main Activities

• Responsible for QA team performance management; provide regular direction, mentorship and coaching
• Review Business/Functional Requirements and Software System Designs for gaps, traceability and testability. Lead testing gaps and impacts analysis. Perform ambiguity reviews of business requirements and functional specification documents
• Interface with product and engineering teams to understand and resolve any quality issues that are discovered during any phase of the product development life cycle
• Participate in reviews and provide feedback on requirements, design documents and specifications from testing perspective
• Manage defects and provide written communication and metrics on testing progress of application systems
• Responsible for all test planning, documentation and execution of functional, integration, end to end systems, regression and performance tests to uncover defects and improve the overall quality of the software
• Act as a lead in the creation, preparation, and conduct of QA reviews and the development and execution of test plans and test scripts
• Generate QA reports that clearly communicate QA results, concerns and project status with an emphasis on project risk, including defect rates
• Support Product Managers to identify risks and to develop mitigation strategies
• Review test results and create test reports to product management
• Develop Master Test Plans based on Test Strategy
• Participate in scheduling of target dates for testing deliverables, prioritizes and monitors activities to meet such dates
• Work closely with Product Managers to review Requirements/Specifications, estimate tasks, and size project releases

What We are Looking For

• Hands-on experience with test design, creation, execution, and reporting of both manual and automated test cases
• Experience with formalized testing and SDLC, and practical knowledge and experience in all phases of software QA
• Knowledge of operating systems, web technologies and relational database concepts
• Hands-on experience with testing tools and frameworks (i.e. Selenium, Pytest)
• Proficiency with GraphQL
• 5+ years of hands-on software testing and management experience with significant testing and/or automation experience or relevant certification. Management of remote testing resources a plus
• Familiar with system architecture and database analysis
• Experience using code versioning tools such as GitLab
• Proficiency with SQL and preferably experience with the PostgreSQL dialect
• Solid working knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodologies, Agile methodologies, and best practices in regards to software testing
• BA/BS/BE from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably Python and/or C#
• Must be skilled in the development of Test Plans and applying the various testing techniques
• ASTQB certification a plus

Role Classification and Benefits

This role is remote, full-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 42 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget of $375 annually and a quarterly cell phone subsidy.

The hiring salary range for this role is $103,500- $137,000 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $115,000-$152,500 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas.
