Job Overview

Reports to: General Manager & VP of Quality and Compliance

Location: Garden Grove, CA

Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 1st Shift

Job Summary:

Provide, implement, and administer the engineering, quality assurance and continuous improvement programs within the facility. This position has organizational freedom and unrestricted access to top management for resolution of quality management issues.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Engineering:
  • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to confirm process strategies and coverage across multiple locations
  • Lead concurrent engineering efforts by participating in process development projects, first part integration, representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Drive test engineering excellence to automate with repeatability and develop methodology
  • Ensure gaps of external to internal processes are defined with a process to integrate processes & systems
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects to ensure they are completed on time.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and key project participants
  • Evaluate new technology and materials to determine their suitability for use in manufacturing processes
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of new processes and procedures within the organization working with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, associated risk, develop plans for change, and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Understand and deploy processes to assure conformance to government regulations, industry standards and product specifications
  • Review process specifications to ensure that they meet industry standards for safety and performance
Quality:
  • Assure completion of root cause and corrective action analysis when escapes occur and ensure that the process to resolve future escapes in the future in place is effective and efficient.
  • Provide input, design and /or implement quality standards and/or specifications and procedures relative to process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Establish and implement quality metrics throughout the organization in order to measure the quality performance with the ultimate goal of reducing scrap, rework, and improving the efficiency and discipline of the Quality organization.
  • Review all program plans prior to production for quality compliance.
  • Focus on using root cause analysis and corrective action to eliminate quality issues.
  • Manage the entire quality system and processes and make changes as necessary
  • Establish quality improvement goals and identify opportunities for improvement based on internal audits, metrics and customer feedback
  • Communicates as needed with internal/external customers while helping them to understand process and risk.
  • Oversee quality processes during production
  • Work closely with the operations organizations to build a quality focus into their processes.
  • Conduct and coordinate required product inspections and ensure products are up to customer quality standards.
  • Define KPI’s and metrics for the quality/engineering teams through tracking and reports
Continuous Improvement:
  • As metrics are established, identify areas for improvement and make the necessary changes to ensure improvements are taking place.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct training sessions for employees on best practices in quality control methods and techniques
  • Lead training as necessary for all departments to ensure all employees understand how and why metrics are measured.
  • Conduct internal audits of the company’s quality control methods to identify potential problems and recommend solutions that will improve efficiency in production processes
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives such as process and product characterizations that lead to continuous / cost improvements
  • Establish/maintain and manage process improvement metrics to ensure a reduction in customer escapes to near zero.
Organizational Development:
  • Manage and motivate the quality team. Assess team performance, create individual performance plans, and implement strategic replacements as needed.
  • Supports the development of quality engineering, quality compliance, quality leadership talents with the right skills sets for new product introductions, and product life cycle management.
  • Supervise personnel and operations with sound operating principles according to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure necessary training is provided to stay current with certification requirements.
  • Maintain career paths for Quality Engineering staff (both managerial and individual contributor tracks).

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university is required. Preferred to be in Engineering, Chemistry or Quality.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Preferred that this experience is in Aerospace, medical or other regulated industry

Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience

Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred

Compensation Range: $96,600-$151,200
