Job Description

Shift Hours

Both 1st shift (6am-4:15pm) and 2nd shift (6pm-6:00am) available

JWF Industries, a diversified, metal-centric manufacturer, is seeking Vehicle Assembly Technicians to join their growing team in Johnstown, PA.

$20/hour, actual starting rates will be based on the experience and certifications of each individual hire.

Successful candidates will be responsible for verifying all line items have been completed on the work orders; verifying conformance to specifications; and testing the action of moving parts prior to final inspection. They will also validate the function and safety of vehicles as documented in build procedures, work instructions, prints, and as provided through verbal instructions.

Essential Duties

  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
  • Test components and systems to ensure functionality
  • Perform repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components
  • Perform basic fluid fills, including DOT brake fluid, coolant/antifreeze and wiper fluid
  • Follow digital work instructions to incrementally assemble a vehicle

Education Level

Auto Mechanic or similar training preferred

Experience

  • Work requires the ability to safely mount and connect mechanical, electronic equipment.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience or training preferred; previous mechanical experience in the automotive industry (or related industry) highly desired.
  • Work requires the ability to navigate computer systems to look up work instructions, cross reference part numbers, check inventory, and reference production tables.
  • Work requires the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to have the ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands (including gripping & grasping) and reach with arms, including reaching overhead and outward frequently. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee will frequently walk. The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements such as color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to climb over and into equipment several times per day
  • Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment to test operation

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to wet and/ or humid conditions and extreme cold or heat. The employee is at risk of electrical shock and vibration.
