Organizational Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Goddard Riverside operates four permanent supportive housing residences and one 75 bed transitional residence for adults experiencing homelessness.
Purpose of Position: The Program Director is responsible for daily administrative, operations, and clinical oversight of The Baxter Safe Haven located in Elmhurst Queens. The Program Director will lead the team in proving a full range of case management services as well as medical, psychiatric, recreational and housing focused activities. The primary goal is to help individuals achieve stable permanent housing using a harm reduction, housing first model.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, some evening or weekends needed, rotating on-call.
Salary Range: $76,608 - $95,706
Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.
Program Oversight
- Facilitate implementation of standardization of data collection methods, tracking, analysis and reporting of data.
- Provide consistent Team Meetings: All Baxter meetings and clinical staff meetings to discuss program outcomes
- Assist in developing program budget and responsible for monitoring program expenses
- Ensure all incident reporting and follow up is done thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Community and Agency liaison
- Oversee and collaborate with Security, Food Service, and Maintenance company to ensure safety of all residents in a well maintained environment
- Ensure quality service provision including the utilization of evidenced based practices for client centered services
- Collaborate with local precincts, community boards, local hospitals, and other CBO’s to best serve our clients
- Prepare for all internal and external audits, including creating and reviewing submissions of Corrective Action Plans
- Other duties as required
- Be part of on call rotation
- Responsible for the recruitment and onboarding process of Baxter staffing
- Ensure ongoing staff training on client care issues, agency policies, best practices, and arrange for outside training as needed
- Directly supervise and conduct consistent individual supervisions for Assistant Program Director, Administrative Assistant, Residential Aid Supervisor, and Housing Specialists
- Oversee and respond to crisis situations and debrief with staff and clients
- Work with organization leadership and departments throughout Goddard to ensure quality of services in a safe and stable environment
- Work closely with with DHS and other funders to achieve deliverable and adhere to all regulations and standards
- Facilitate standardization of program policies and procedures using a harm reduction and housing first model
- Work with executive leadership on new initiatives
- Liaison with on-site and off-site medical and psychiatric providers
- Complete funder reports on an ongoing and timely basis
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Supervisory/Management experience required
- Experience with individuals with substance use/mental illness/unsheltered required
- Understanding of a harm reduction and housing first model of housing
- Master’s Degree in related field with significant relevant experience preferred
- Experience working within a Safe Haven strongly preferred

- Able to use or learn other electronic databases, programs, and funder-related software as needed

- Ability to work in fast-paced, residential environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiar with cloud-based payroll platforms such as Paycom (supervisor/manager functionality)
Physical Requirements
- Moderate computer work; occasional lifting of up to 30lbs, including client belongings; some walking and climbing stairs to visit clients and access community spaces
Work Environment
- Office in Safe Haven housing building where clients reside
