Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Learning & Culture Training Manager will work in partnership with the Director of L&C to coordinate, design and deliver training. Training will focus on our “This is How We Roll” framework of our philosophies and practices (includes DEI [Diversity, Equity and Inclusion], Harm Reduction, and CPI: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) with an emphasis on working with LGBTQ youth and Restorative Practices. Training will also include supporting other staff training needs such as behavioral health issues, skill building, cultural humility, community building, and best practices for Transitional Aged Youth.


The first 2 years will focus on developing a training how to support LGBTQ communities in accessing affirming and inclusive health services and improve knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to LBTQ clients as well as a Toolkit for other providers. The Training Manager will also support the Learning Design Specialist as a SME to design a self-paced LGBTQ training.

In addition, the Learning & Culture Training Manager will support the instructor-led (in-person & virtual) training for all staff. The Training Manager will also support the Director’s work with Leadership to establish staff and agency needs in meeting agency objectives and outcomes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • With the support from the Director, evaluate or provide evaluation measures to ensure employees are adequately implementing the desired knowledge and skills and to implement better or more effective ways to teach employees in the future.
  • Incorporate “This is How We Roll” guiding philosophies and practices (DEI [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion], Harm Reduction, Restorative Practices, Motivational Interviewing, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Informed Care) in trainings
  • Ensure the development and creation of appropriate training materials and resource guides for staff in attendance.
  • Coordinating, facilitating and managing of the LGBTQ Health Equity Training program, Restorative Practices and other L&C programs across Larkin Street and community organizations
  • Collaborate with the Learning Design Manager on LMS administration for the development, roll-out, follow up, reporting and documentation of the LGBTQ Health Equity Training program
  • Attend agency and community meetings.
  • In collaboration with the Consultant, conduct organization- and community-wide needs assessment of culturally responsive care for LGBTQ clients
  • Design, develop and deliver microlearning, discussion questions, and refreshers for Larkin Street employees.
  • Continually research new training trends, programs, techniques, skills and methods of content delivery that is aligned with the needs at Larkin Street.
  • In collaboration with the Director, identify, assess and understand the current strengths and areas of development of Larkin Street employees for but not limited to the improvement of the LGBTQ Health Equity Training program
  • Assist in strengthening inter-agency and community collaboration.
  • Work collaboratively with outside partners and R&E to conduct primary and secondary research on the needs of LGBTQ clients
  • Ensure training aligns with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiative.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the LMS and ensure the effectiveness of system training.
  • Ensure the recording of training data (attendance, evaluations) for grant reports ensuring compliance with grants and budgets.
  • Work with the Director to establish training needs to address agency outcomes and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
