The Company


Better Therapeutics is a prescription digital therapeutics (PDT) company developing a novel form of cognitive behavioral therapy to address the root causes of cardiometabolic diseases and has developed a proprietary platform for the development of FDA-regulated, software-based solutions. In July 2023, the company received FDA authorization for its first asset, AspyreRx™. Scheduled to launch commercially in Q4, 2023, AspyreRx™ is a PDT indicated to treat adults with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and is backed by robust data demonstrating clinically meaningful and statistically significant durable reduction in A1c.


The cognitive behavioral therapy delivered by Better Therapeutics’ PDT is designed to enable changes in neural pathways of the brain so lasting changes in behavior become possible. Addressing the underlying causes of these diseases has the potential to dramatically improve patient health while lowering healthcare costs. Better Therapeutics’ clinically validated mobile application must be prescribed by physicians and reimbursed like traditional medicines.


Better Therapeutics operates as a fully distributed company combining remote work with periodic team and company wide in-person meetings. We have employees located in 22 states across the country.


The Role


We are looking for an experienced commercial Account Executive to lead customer-facing efforts with target health systems and IDNs, c-suite leaders in these systems, budget line owners in these systems and healthcare providers, leading to a successful commercial launch of AspyreRx™. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Account Executive is responsible for operationalizing the go-to-market strategy, negotiating health system contracts, as needed, and for delivering sales goals and objectives by establishing, growing, and retaining relationships with health system, IDN personnel, and community based health care providers and key influencers leading to awareness, adoption, and advocacy in coordination with other sales representatives.


This role requires a team player that is able to self-direct their activities in a complex and evolving environment and demonstrates a strategic problem-solving mentality, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.


This is a unique opportunity for account executive professionals who excel and have passion for introducing meaningful innovation with the promise of changing lives and the broader healthcare segment for better. Prior experience in account management creating a new category within life science or digital health is a strong foundation for success in this new role.


In This Role, You Will


  • Operationalize market access strategies and programs to ensure a patient-centered approach, while supporting reimbursement in the areas of government, private & managed care programs, etc.
  • Develop and obtain significant thought leader support; build strong relationships with external customers and demonstrate the commitment Better Therapeutics has for patients and healthcare providers
  • Manage assigned accounts to ensure alignment with leadership on sales calls, and maximize allocated budget for customer facing expenses
  • Collaborate with Better Therapeutics' Marketing team to ensure education and resources are available to address customer needs
  • Support key accounts in prescribing AspyreRx™
  • Negotiate health system / IDN contracts
  • Ensure successful physician adoption, identify customer needs, and drive high impact sales interactions in full compliance with relevant regulations
  • Develop business plans that result in achievement of Better Therapeutics' goals consistent with company objectives. This includes but is not limited to customer identification and prioritization, competitive analysis, business success requirements and implementation plans
  • Develop deep understanding of the type 2 diabetes disease state, Better Therapeutics' PDT, the marketplace and key competitors; profile and understand our customers’ business to determine the optimal account management strategy and tactics
  • In conjunction with the Head of Sales, identify and implement a customer engagement model that will drive optimization in customer outreach
  • Align efforts with marketing strategies; assist in developing key messages, partner on implementation, and execution of pull-through activities
  • Analyze, develop, and grow commercial business, achieving sales growth and delivering strong sales results


Requirements


What you bring


  • Experience operating under and strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to sale of therapeutic products
  • Understanding of payor and reimbursement landscape
  • Experience in virtual meeting interactions and platforms
  • Working knowledge of sales enablement platforms (e.g. salesforce.com, Veeva, etc.)
  • Experience negotiating contracts at the health system / IDN level
  • Experience engaging customers to understand and adopt a new product class
  • Track record of success: 10+ years in therapeutics sales management, preferably with launch experience in a first-in-class product
  • A Bachelor degree in life sciences, biology, business or a related discipline is required. Graduate degree is a plus
  • Sales/leadership experience in the diabetes market to include experience calling on endocrinologists
  • 3-5 years experience in the diabetes and/or cardiometabolic field

Pay Transparency


At Better Therapeutics, the base salary is one part of our total compensation offering. The annual salary range for this position at commencement of employment is estimated to be between $210,000 and $260,000. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, skills, knowledge, and professional qualifications. Our total compensation offering for this position may include other elements, including equity-based awards, benefits, developmental opportunities and being part of a mission driven culture. Employees are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our Company’s 401k plan, as well as a deferred compensation plan, and flexible paid time off will be available in accordance with the Company’s leave policy. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time for any lawful reason, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
