Vice President, Domestic Logistics

Overview
The VP, Domestic Logistics, is the key thought leader and support for the SVP Global Logistics in developing operational and longer-term strategic plans to support Burlington’s domestic inbound and store delivery networks. This individual will lead development of the strategies and operating tactics required to move merchandise efficiently from domestic vendors to Burlington facilities and from those facilities through a multi-modal transportation network into a large 3PLnetwork, terminating at final delivery to store. This position is a primary support for senior merchandise planning and store leadership in developing and implementing strategies to drive speed, cost and service improvements across the Burlington network through the support and development of supply chain initiatives. Also, primarily responsible for key partner identification, relationship development, and procurement of domestic transportation and 3PL logistic services.

• Development, formulation and implementation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives to support corporate and supply chain initiatives
• Coach and lead direct reports in their development to ensure growth to support succession planning strategies
• Perform strategic analysis to enable understanding of domestic logistics impacts to organization priorities
• Direct and manage activities against key objectives established to maximize the efficiency of Burlington Coat Factory Supply Chain initiatives. Oversees operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
• Develop, maintain and enhance processes necessary to deliver sufficient capacity and best-in-class operational effectiveness to meet service metrics sufficient to support Burlington receipt, replenishment and stores sales goals
• Direct team activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling, and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources. Analyze and identify operational opportunities and negotiate solutions to those opportunities
• Partner with all areas of the organization to move product as efficiently and cost effectively as possible, ensuring jointly with merchandising, allocation and stores the maximum service level to retail customers.

Education And Qualifications
Education: Four-year degree required; supply chain/logistics degree preferred
Experience

• Deep and broad logistics/transportation experience in the retail space; including Inbound, Outbound, 3PL and Pool operations.
• Proven track record with progression of leadership positions in supply chain and transportation. Preferred additional experiences: DC or Store operations; 3PL management, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, 6 Sigma
• Experience establishing key performance indicator metrics to benchmark/track performance.
• Demonstrated and proven ability to identify and develop other leaders.
• Demonstrated experience and success developing and implementing high service/cost competitive carrier network.
• Proven track record and success driving transportation productivity and customer service.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in transportation/supply chain and 3 years leading and managing successful transportation function.
