Your Impact:
The Jacobs-led team will serve as MARTA's CPMO Supplemental Services Consultant and manage the construction aspects. A joint venture between Jacobs and H. J. Russell & Company – was selected to support the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) as they embark on their expansion program.
Summary of position:
This position requires an individual who can initiate and develop effective working relationships in with a wide range of people at varying levels of organizations; who is diplomatic and tactful; who can independently meet job responsibilities in an organized and efficient manner; who has the knowledge and skill to apply all relevant resources when solving problems; who builds and sustains teamwork through trust relationships with team members.
The Sr. Communications Lead will be responsible for coordinating the duties of their reports/subconsultants and ensuring all external and internal communications meets the requirements set forth by the MARTA client. Communications/Public Involvement efforts will focus on MARTA’s capital improvement programs, including State of Good Repair (TR-IV events, Parking Lot Paving, SMART Restrooms) and the Station Rehabilitation Programs, as well as other programs and projects as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Participates in the development, updating, and implementation of the following:
- Public information and Communications plan (PICP), and/or Public Involvement Plan (PIP),
- Attends internal project meetings to gather project updates and provide updates on any comms/public involvement activity.
- Collateral and outreach content development (fact sheets, posters/flyers, advertisements, signage, web and social media content, PowerPoint decks, etc.); coordinate printing, translation, and distribution with proper departments.
- Public Information Request (PIR) responses,
- Coordinates with and supports Public Engagement subconsultants.
- Attends and supports public events for State of Good Repair program and other MARTA events as directed by client.
- Plans and coordinates staff duties for stakeholder and public meetings and events, including groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, milestone celebrations, etc. (invitations, logistics planning, event space contracting, collateral and printing, space planning (layout, displays, table positioning, ADA accommodation, parking), supplies, interpreter coordination, etc.
- Responsible for developing and differentiating communications strategies and campaigns for varied internal and external audiences, creating unified messaging (one voice for the project that is clear and concise), and ensuring consistency and alignment with MARTA messaging and branding requirements.
- Continually seeks out opportunity to improve MARTA’s brand and ridership, as well as serve the MARTA client.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Planning, Marketing, or similar field
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Excellent writing skills; proficiency with MLA and/or AP styles
- Minimum 5 or more years’ experience in with at least 3 years in Communications and Public Outreach (experience in transportation infrastructure preferred)
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills; stickler for meeting deadlines; works well under tight deadlines and stressful situations; agile in responding to requests; able to multi-tasking; creative problem-solver
- Advanced computing skills working with MS Word, PowerPoint, and communication and collaboration tools (MS Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
- Desire to work with the public and ability to connect with citizens from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
