As the Sr. Society Relations Specialist at Medtronic, you will play a crucial role in driving a strong surgeon/HCP (Healthcare Provider) society participation strategy that meets our Cranial and Spinal Technologies (CST) therapy needs and provides opportunity for meaningful customer experiences and interactions. You will be responsible to coordinate, deliver, and manage our society presence aligned with CST business priorities and driving our strategic goals. Your contributions will directly impact our mission to provide connected, consistent customer experiences across CST to drive: awareness of our technology and procedural solutions, advocacy for our CST ecosystem, and meaningful customer interactions by delivering focused relationship management and strategic customer operations.
This position sits within the Physician Relations team and reports to the Senior Manager of Physician Relations. In this highly collaborative role, you will work in tandem with cross-functional team members on the development of our society participation strategy. You will collaborate closely with marketing, medical education, research and development, communications, global strategies, and operations. As a member of our Physician Relations team, you will have the opportunity to maintain and deepen our partnership with society leadership through areas of shared interest and vision by driving deliberate connections with premier society leadership to share vision and strategy, develop and deliver enhanced tools for planning and visibility to leadership meetings and attendees and for follow-up needs/actions, and develop plans to establish global society approach. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Promote programs / resources to internal and external stakeholders and customers
- Continually seeks out and participates in self-development activities; engage in continuous learning in order to be a reliable, trusted resource of accurate, up-to-date knowledge
- Works independently but with direction from team manager, regional, and functional or technical experts
- Demonstrate willingness to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse set of peers and colleagues across organizational levels to include Sales and global business partners
- Have in-depth understanding of and maintain compliance to business conduct and other policies, processes and required documentation
- Manages logistical participation needs and deadlines effectively across business and functional teams; drives pro-active approach and early awareness
- Provide exceptional customer service when communicating with societies, the team and meeting attendees
- Performs other duties as requested/assigned.
- Negotiate sponsorship contracts
- Ability to travel approximately 40%
- Partner with key CST business stakeholders (Marketing, R&D, Sales, MedEd), functional teams (Marketing Services & Operations, Global Conventions, Grants & Donations) and other cross-functional and cross-geography teams as needed, to ensure optimal third-party/society presence for CST across multiple touch points such as promotional, exhibits, sponsored events, leadership and customer engagement events
- Supports and implements third party meeting on-site participation strategy and concepts; ensures alignment with market, surgeon/HCP audience, technology/procedural solutions, and brand strategies
- Develops, fosters and maintains key relationships with healthcare professionals, and surgical and medical third-party meeting/society organizations strategically aligned with the business to increase market access and development opportunities, and to aid in the education of other healthcare professionals
- Maintain general project management tracking for program activities relevant to compliance, logistics, budget, and metrics
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in clinical, technical, marketing, education, physician relations or sales roles, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Bachelors degree required
- Brand and product promotion experience
- Demonstrate ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse set of customers as well as peers and colleagues across organizational levels
- Experience working closely with Marketing and Sales
- Medical device and/or healthcare experience
- Vendor and budget management experience
- Project and/or program management skills

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
